AM15 by Tactical Innovations?

I just got off the phone with Craig.... He said Tac Innov is very focused on making mags and lowers ahead of any political changes. Their thought process is they can make the uppers later since the uppers aren't a regulated item, but potentially not lowers and mags....

I understand Craig's thought process, but I have a problem with his commitment to the people who made deposits and then received his final billing for this upper over a year ago.

His milled AR-15 lowers weren't one of his products being manufactured when he took on the AM-15 project and accepted pre-orders and deposits.
To introduce and sell new products ahead of his promise to us is just plain wrong any way you slice it. Have I got a bad attitude?

Purchased from VAl at E&L for the AM-15 upper and stored in my closet for over three years...

As a very early depositor I'm only out a pittance so I'll hang in. But VegasSMG's frustration and anger is rubbing off on me.

Just a side note comparing to the Shrike. Craig displayed a "concept" AM15 upper at the SHOT show some time in the early 1990's. It wasn't even a working prototype just a "wouldn't that be cool". At that time it was going to be a semi only. Can't recall the year but it's been more than ten.

Me too. A hundred bucks isn't a big deal and my number is under thirty, but I don't want to get "stuck" with a couple of drums I paid full retail for. Val told me he has an ass load, so there's plenty for any future ban for American 180 owners, and that's a finite number.

He carried that non functioning upper around for several years. I first saw it in this decade at a SHOT Show here in Las Vegas with The Godfather. You need to remember that the SHOT Show has only had the military and law enforcement section for less than ten years, so I don't think it's been as long as you recall. The early 1990s would put it at coming up on twenty years.

Your memory is likely much better than mine. I can't recall if SHOT had gone to the Military&Law Enforcement section the first time it was displayed. In any event it's close to a decade if not longer.

Mob and I saw Craig at the Shot Show. He told us that he still did not have all the parts he needed to go in to production on the upper. He said he was to busy making mags and ar lowers to do any thing with this project for a while. The upper I saw at the show looked great. I really want one of these: but I do not see Craig producing the upper until he runs out of orders for his other products that are bringing in $$$$. Boys I'd say we have a long wait.

Ordered my Bazooka Bros adapter today. Already have an AM180 so don't need the drums or winders.

I'll let my deposit stand until I try this thing. I may want both.

You may be correct. My concern with the Bazooka adapter is
how awkward it might handle with the drum hanging below the mag well. Craig's upper won't have that issue.

That being said I REALLY like that the fire control parts do not need to be changed. Cost also favors it as you could put together a 22 upper, the adapter, drum and winder for several hundred less than the AM-15. Since I already own many drums and winders I HAVE to try it.

The one thing that favors the AM15 is the tricky nature of getting a 22 upper to run FA. In theory the AM15 comes tuned ready to go. From the threads I read most don't have that experience with the 22 adapters. Since I sold my very reliable Ciener kit long ago and ordered a Spikes Tactical dedicated bolt and barrel I suppose I'll find out.

The Bazooka bros adapter could put the kabosh on the AM15 if it's successful. So having both may not be an option. Too bad nobody has come up with a Shrike alternative.

Another Shrike episode in the making. I got my deposit back because I sold my M16 for a RDIAS so the AM15 is useless for me. Good luck to those that get them.
