I think the grip angle would be too steep with the Tenko adapter, as the whole receiver is already angled.

I would also think that the magwell opening might need to be enlarged or changed. So the receiver would need to be sent to FATD for a determination of the modifications. So there is another four months if the modifications are successful.

Right or wrong, I don’t think anyone is sending their receivers to FATD for larger magwells, holes in the back of the receiver, welding tabs, and on and on.

It is my understanding from what Richard posted about the Max-11/15, the FATD required him to send a M11/NINE with a hole in the back plate as the M11/NINE in their reference collection had no hole. He is a SOT, so he had a Post Sample he could send. We are not a SOT. So as soon as I know the Government will stay open, we will be shipping a transferable with the complete Tenko adapter including upper. I don't like it, but we have received a letter stating that no determination for accessories will be done without a complete firearm. I think a modular magwell system would be very cool. We are certainly not going to sell anything without a determination from FATD. So if we chose to do something like that, we would certainly send in a receiver with the modifications. What you choose to do is your decision.

Sorry Scott, I wasn’t trying to imply anything about the steps you’re taking. I completely understand your position and I should have worded my post a little differently.

No problem. Things have changed. I think a modular magwell system is bound to happen. Like the Max-11/15, the Fat-47, the Tenko adapter, could those products come to the market ten years ago? No way, but I am sure there is more to come.

The big thing is patent. I would think that MGI patented their system. So how much extra would a modular magwell system cost after paying to use the system? How long does the patent is enforce? Time will tell.
