So I got the call from my dealer today that my form 4 came in and I could come pick up my M-11/9. So I did as fast as I could of course. Once I got it home I pulled out the Lage upper that had been waiting for it and commenced to installing it. All the while my 23 month old is at my feet shouting "pow-pow, pow-pow" wanting to hold the gun. I was almost finished sliding on the front piece when I hear a crack and a black piece of plastic falls to the counter. Since I was a little distracted I didn't realise that the pieces weren't lined up right and this is the result:
Oh well superglue to the rescue!!
Then I forgot to install the cocking knob. As I was puting it in the bolt or something slid forward and this is that result:
It looks less painful than is was plus I bled like a stuck pig and dripped some onto the gun. Furthermore, at the sight of the blood my toddler started crying because Daddy hurt himself.
So... I dressed my wound, waited until the baby was in bed and installed the grip and mag release without incident. Somethime enthusiasm is not your best friend. I also learned not to try to work on my firearms with my gun loving son around. However, I do look forward to taking him with me to the range in a few years!
