So I have a customer asked me to sell a box of C96 Stocks for him. It appears that they are original Red 9 stocks. Anyone have a good idea on prices for various conditions? I plan to Gun broker them and would like a rough idea what to expect, kind of out of my wheel house.

I will try to get a hold of a collector/expert in WA that I relied on in the past for all things C96.

I would like one. I bought a C96 a couple years back that is in 9mm, but does not have the RED 9 stocks.

The only way to identify a stock as being from a "red nine" would be for it to be attached to the matching serial numbered red nine pistol.......there is no other identifiable difference. Red nine guns used serial numbers that also appeared on pre-war and commercial 7.63 guns, so just the serial # alone wont tell you anything

The later 1930 Commercial stocks, and M712 Schnellfeuer stocks are Mauser-banner marked, and the schnell stocks have additional inletting for the selector switch and the magazine baseplate.

Some overall photos, and pics of the serial numbering on the attaching irons might help.

I too have only seen the "red 9" on grip panels, which some refer to as "stocks".
If there are any "shoulder stocks" so marked, I am unaware.
That's why I stated the need for pics, including markings.

The "red 9" refers to a number 9 carved into the grip panels of 9mm C-96 pistols.
This was done to alert users to only use 9mm cartridges, not the 7.63mm Mauser cartridges, which was the original cartridge for which the C-96 was chambered.

MrM4, first; I could not find the expert guy in WA. It has been over 15 years since I last talked and the phone# I had is bad.
I would be in the market for REAL 24 line "Red 9" stocks for my Prussian. -Z
