Anyone know the value of one of these AutoWerks 72 round drums for the M11/9? I know they are pretty rare and I can't find any selling history on what they sell for.

Thanks, Mike

Normally I think these sell in the $200 to $350 range, but I've seen them listed for much higher. My experience with C&S drums is they are hit or miss as to whether they will work. A video of the mag running in your gun and it will bring at the high end of the range maybe higher. Without a video of it running or at least the guarantee of a well respected forum member such as yourself, I would not pay the low end of the range. I'd let someone else take the risk. I have several "project" drums to work on when I get time and don't need any more.

As mentioned I've seen proven to run C&S drums sell for 450 right here on UT over the years for the M11 and the UZI same with the barrelXchange ones.

Pretty sure a BarrelXchange drum just sold for about that in the last few months here.

Good luck with the sale kinda weird to see you selling so much but we all have our reasons.

I would think $400. His drums had a good reputation as I remember. He was also at C&S at the time

Did autowerks make these mags for Stonycreek? Ive got 2 stamped with AW that run perfect on my m11. The first dummy round tells a lot if it functioned correctly. 400 def fair price imo.

Yes. Mine is exactly the same as the one coffee has. Identical.

I cannot seat the drum with a Lage grip installed.

What prevents this? Does the stop block hit the grip? Can it be resolved by cutting a slot in the Lage grip for the block? Not that is matter since only one of my MACs has a Lage grip.

Back in the day, I bought one of these drums direct from C&S for $500 as I recall and I was happy to get it. It worked perfectly on the stock MAC upper. I wish I had bought a second one. No tweaking necessary at all.

I remember I oiled it excessively and I let it sit for a long time without noticing the oil pooled inside the drum and the Teflon Tape C&S had inside the drum came off and the drum malfunctioned. I sent it back to C&S and he installed new Teflon for me.

I guess C&S asked a good price for them because back then, there were no other uppers that could support any drums at all.

There is no way I would sell it even if I could get $500.

I don't know that Stonycreek ever made these types of drums.

Eric at Autowerkes used to hang out with the C&S guys a lot. I used to order Autowerkes stuff and pick it up from Eric at C&S's shop. I believe he may have been one of the guys making them for/with C&S, and he also sold some under his Autowerkes brand. I would rate the AW drums on par with the C&S drums.

There were also several other people making these over the years as well. Some worked well and others did not. There was a thread over on arfcom a few months ago where someone was looking at one being advertised as a C&S drum, but others were quick to point out the differences of why it was not.

I think I've seen the actual C&S drums go for upward of $600, but that may have been during or shortly after the ban, when there really weren't any other options out there.

FWIW, I've got one that Medphys built. I don't use it a lot, but I've run it in a few subgun matches, and it does well. Here's a vid from several years ago using a mix of supersonic and subsonic ammo.

Stony Creek did make some drums and I still have one for my M16/9. They were similar to the C&S drums, but a bit cruder. They even attempted a "double Suomi" drum which looked like a giant Beta C mag, but made out of two (then cheap) Suomi drums for a 144 round capacity. I don't think they ever worked out the feeding on those.

If I remember correctly, there was a poster on here a few years back who made one of those double drums and documented the process in a thread.

I had an original C&S drum, very well made and worked very well. Sold it to Kaen3e on this forum years ago.

Yeah, I tried to follow that and I just did not have the talent that it takes. A good man has got to know his limitations! That is why these drums cost what they do! If you got the talent, you can make it work!
