Anyone tried a Franklin Binary trigger on a 10/22?

I've been on backorder notice with 8 vendors for three weeks with only one notification. Needless to say they sold out before I could get to the email on my phone.

It may be - depending on what happens in November - this is your only chance to get one of these if you are so inclined.

I've been thinking about it and I'm seriously contemplating building an AR pistol with a 6-8" CMMG dedicated barrel (or use the 4" I have already for my M16) and install a Franklin Binary in that. In theory I could use it kind of like a DIAS and shoot 5.56 or even 9mm. I already have all the uppers and a ton of AR22 mags, including 8 or so BlackDog 50-rd AR22 drums.

I also have a S&W M&P15-22 that can accept the same trigger if you shave the safety bumpers off. Again, kind of a poor man's DIAS.

The 10/22 sounded appealing at first but you are stuck with one caliber, one platform and the mags are not as easy to load.

Looking way down the road, the M&P 15-22 and the Ruger 10/22 are unlikely to get on a 'ban' list of whatever that list may look like. There are positive considerations for both the 10/22 trigger and the AR trigger.

Takes a bit to get the cadence of them down, but when you do, they are pretty controllable. With the ammo shortage that has been rearing it's head lately, I would love to get one for the 10/22 as I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000 round of 22LR. Not as much 9mm or .223/556..... From the reviews I have seen on Utube, they seem to work quite well.

No I do not, and that might be my next step. From what I read on the interwebs, they can be gotten to run pretty reliably with the correct setup. My problem with a 22 upper was always having issues finding reliable .22 magazines to run. I was living in Colorado that has a 15 round magazine limit, so I could not order any to be shipped directly to me that were good to go, and the demand for standard capacity .22 magazine parts kits was apparently too low for any stores to carry them. I would like to get something in .22 running at a good pace and use my .22 SPECTREII can to suppress it. My Ruger charger takedown was going to be my "host" for the binary if I can find one. Already has the threaded barrel for the can, and the KIDD rubber coated buffer stop to quiet down the bolt so she is nice to run suppressed already.

Unsolicited suggestion: after a lot of frustration with other uppers I bought a CMMG dedicated barrel and bolt kit. It has a detent that locks the bolt carrier / frame to the barrel. It works. The Black Dog Xform mags and 50 rd drums work.

It's a risk that these could become the next version of the bumpstock. Or 'poor man's' DIAS.

I lucked out getting one after getting a email from Franklin Armory ( on the 4th notice). Works great so far maybe 400 to 500 rnds. I'm stuck using old Ramline poly / Bulter Creek mags due to living in Massachusetts. Only had a few issues that were due to ammo or incorrectly loaded magazines . Pretty fun for a .22.

OMG... The 10/22 binary is even more fun than the AR or the HK binary. Most fun I've had since the 'plague' hit. Gotta try the 110 round German drum next!

So about 10 days or so ago I bought the trigger. Installed it in a spare OEM aluminum trigger housing. After a couple of days of testing I concluded the unit was not functional; the disconnect and 'semi' mode did not play well together. Found a polymer housing on ebay and installed it. THAT combo works great and was probably the one Franklin designed this to work with. Need a new set of stickers since these are 'single use only'. I'd really like to laser engrave the housing and fill the markings with paint; those stickers are goofy. If I had a drill press I'd just drill some shallow holes and do that...but I don't have one.

So I won a Charger on Gunbroker and it's been a week now with the gun untraceable through USPS. They just handed it to the postman, it never scanned and nobody knows where it is.

Not happy.

Ruger #4983 Charger; 8" barrel, rear picatinny rail and SP folding brace installed, Franklin Binary trigger.

Wow. What a great reliable and much cheaper version of a Norrell. Highly recommend this.

This trigger is genius in a 10/22.

Very straight forward, but read directions first and I used my original trigger spring and not the replacement (didn’t read instructions) and I think I put the safety arms one before putting it in the stock and that is obviously a no go, but otherwise easy.
I put one in an sbr charger in the new team b stock. Great fun but I can outrun the bolt. Just need to rein in my finger. 30 years of paintball means I have one trigger speed and that is fast as possible. So I need to practice some. Agreed on the markings, I might do 1 dot or dash white safe, 1 for red and 2 dots for binary on the pack.
