I finally ended up getting an AR-15. I built one from a CDNN Kit and an Anderson Receiver. I took the Rifle to the range today to test fire it. My new AR-15 shot pretty good, I now see why they are so popular. While I was at the range, at least 70% of the shooters were shooting one kind of AR-15 or another. Any Politician who wants to Ban the AR-15 really has to stop off at any gun Range and see how many people own them and would be very pissed if anyone tries to take them away.

And that is why they want to take them.
So many have them.

Easily America's most popular long arm.
I bought my 1st one around 1994, that would have made me 23 at the time.

Not my fav-0-rite long gun, but cool enough I've had one or more ever since.

i remember back before the assault weapon ban..i was around age 21-22.....i remember a friend checking one out every time we went shooting at the local gun shop...i asked him--what the heck do you want one of those for......1 year later clinton signed the assault weapon ban and i ran to my local dealer and bought the last one off the shelf for $500 more than they were a year earlier.....my friend eventually DID also buy one...but a post ban w/o the flash hider....

i wanted to get a trigger job on it...went to Gander Mountain....they refused to take my gun...they said ''we dont work on ''those'' types of guns''.......

23 years later and every manufacturer makes one, everyone i know owns one......the assault weapon ban made everyone want one....and i agree, when i go to the gun range 50% are shooting one....there has to be millions of them out there.....there is no way to collect them all back.....most would say ''i sold it to someone''.........the 1 thing they can do is go after ammo.....this is why i have heavily stocked up for a lifetime..... i believe clinton #2 will tax ammo or make you get a license to buy ammo (CA is trying to do this).....put a $1 a bullet tax.....serial # each bullet....i see this as the end game for her.....

ive got a Ruger SC556 and i think its the most awesome M4 out there....much better than my preban colt sporter II.........ive got a M16a2 in jail right now and i have a 11.5" upper ready to go on it

i even bought a Ruger AR556 for my employee for his Christmas bonus.....my plan is to buy each of my kids one when they turn 14.....i want to buy a kit and build it together with each of them....each will get to pick the stocks and options to make it special for them......something to remember their old man with.....

as much as i enjoy my SC556 i would pick my Steyr Aug as my SHTF gun.....

Before the "awb" you almost never saw an Ar-15 or ak at a range, now in each group of people shooting together you rarely find someone without one. If you think about it The awb ban did opposite of what the anti gun people wanted. Since pistols could only hold 10 rounds people started buying more subcompact guns and guns in larger calibers because you could only have 10 rd magazine anyway. Also people who didn't own an evil black rifle wanted one...
If they pass another awb, they will go for permanent because if they did another 10 yr ban black rifles will become even more popular

It's the Forbidden Fruit Syndrome. If you're told you can't have something, it makes you want it even more. Human nature, I guess.

The 94 Assault Weapons Ban was a joke as it just banned cosmetic things like bayonet lugs, flash hiders and folding stocks etc. The Dems keep talking about the Ban in Australia as a model. This would be a Ban on all Semi auto rifles and handguns with a buy back. This would be tough to do here. According to the Heller Supreme Court case, Guns that are protected by the Second Amendment are those that are in general use by the Public. The AR-15 is the most popular Rifle sold in the US, so it should be protected.

I had one in the 90's, but didn't know how to clean it properly, and don't think the person I bought it from did either, and it didn't run good.

It wasn't until late 2012 I decided to assemble one. Now I have 4 real AR's and a 15-22, with another receiver coming. They can be anything from a tiny SBR, to a 50" long suppressed 17# monster. I have each.

Never had one. My co-workers and friends I shoot with have them, but they are not into NFA stuff.. I went from a Beratta to a Kimber handgun, to a VMAC to an FA M-11/9.. crappy old VMAC would bump fire and gave me a deep appreciation for MAC subguns.. but no urge whatsoever to get an AR... unless it is an AR upper for my MAC!

AR-15's are just such a bargain now. You can build a nice one for $500. At $50 to $60 everyone should have a AR-15 receiver or two in their safe. One reason I like the AR-15 so much is that it is a modular gun like the MAC guns.

Heller wont matter once the court is stacked liberal and the 2nd amendment comes up again....the 2nd amendment only won by 1 vote...and that vote died a couple months ago.....Hillary wins she will have more than enough votes......i dont see a gun buy back.....just too many......the govt. can just print the $$ and pay it off......but it would be an insanely high amount...........all they have to do is limit ammo and the problem will fix itself...a gun is worthless w/o ammo.....ban the sale of gun powder/primers....reloading is dead...........tax bullets $1 a bullet.....allow you 10 bullets a year....most people dont have 10,000 rounds of .223 sitting around....most i know have 50 rounds....limit ammo and the gun is worthless...just something to put on a mantle

Hillary wants to take away the Gun Manufacturers protection from frivolous lawsuits. This would put the Gun Manufacturers out of Business. It would be tough for Congress to pass ammo taxes etc because they remember what happened after they passed the AWB in 94. I could see them ending the importation of all that Russian Ammo though.

i agree that it COULD backfire like it did from the AWB 94.......but its 2016 now.....men are allowed in womens bathrooms and showers.....were in a different world from 1994.....i dont know how Millennials view their gun rights......they seem willing to give up all their rights from what ive seen.....but they do have a libertarian slant to them, so its possible guns are important to enough of them...

CA wants to regulate ammo and make you get a license to purchase it....someone in congress or the senate had the bright idea of limiting ammo to 1 magazine worth a month...so if you have a revolver you get 6 bullets a month for it......

congress is not where things are going to be happening under Hillary....its going to happen under executive order and a supreme court stacked on her side which will let everything go her way.

I have great fears of Hillary....keeps me up at night.....i have made a ventriloquist dummy w/ her face on it and it sits on a chair facing me at night

i was a Colt fanatic living through the AWB. Hard to understand if you didnt live it. my 23 yo buddy dont get it.

But its why I now have 20+ Colt AR15s, 5 Colt SBRs, and 3 MGs and 20+ stripped lowers for measure.

No way Ill het caught with my pants down he second time

Agree with forbidden fruit as above. Also makes me think of my grandparents who liver theogh the depression. They hoarded everything till they dies. Nohing was thrown out.

AWB was like he Great Depression for those of us wih BRD. Now were BR hoarders, LOL
