If you ordered a Galil adapter and have a 5.56 marked receiver please email me with 5.56 in the subject line. If you have a .223 use .223 in your subject line so I can identify who has what. Thanks

Just CAI at the moment....... I am trying to figure out this .223/5.56 Caspian receiver mystery. Seems they are not consistent in the parts they use for the mag catches, or the stampings are really worn out.

So, there actually is a difference in the new Golanis depending on if it is marked 223 or 5.56?

Anything is possible........ I am waiting on a .223 to arrive to verify with a caliper.

are orf receivers not impacted? i sent you my caliber markings but it's an orf and it sounds like the problems are with the cast ones.

I think the adapters were made with the ORF in mind. I am not sure, but i think the receiver change came about after the adapters were already being produced. I am not sure of this though. Nathan will know.

What I am looking for is information on the different parts, assembly and milling tolerances used between the two types of receivers..... I am getting reports from users (both .223 and 5.56 CAI) that the adapter works just fine (like mine 5.56 marked) and some that need a little filing to work (both .223 and 5.56 of different serial number ranges).

I want to specifically address in the instruction sheet going out with the adapters the possibility that due to CAI's manufacturing tolerances (what they believe is acceptable) you the end user will need to identify and make adjustments with a file to the adapter and rifle for it to mate and function with your rifle. In these instruction I want to lay out all fitting scenarios so there is no undue frustration on your (the customers) part.

On a side note......

I also want to make sure everyone is aware that there are compatibility issues with Colt 20 round mags, as Colt 20 round mags were not available to me during R&D the inside front wall of the adapter is not properly channeled for the raised rivet like bumps of the Colt 20 round mags. This combined with the top profile of the Colt mag (which is unlike that of the USGIs and PMags we R&D'd with) will not allow the Mag to fully seat in the adapter without modification. Sorry for the bad news on this.

what about a 20 rd Pmag :)
nathan, I think we all understand that the CAI owners will have to teak the adapters abit for it to work in our rifle. I think the whole community would be best served if you put the modification instructions on your website, that way if something changes we all know where to go. Besides instruction manuals are outdated the moment they are printed, I say don't waste your time with it other than a slip of paper that says "see website for modification instructions"

Your biz your call.

If I understand what you are asking or stating, what is trying to be determined is how your receiver is marked. It should be marked as .223 which is the english designation of caliber or 5.56 which is the metric designation of caliber. It appears differences exist between the two receiver runs. 7.62mm and the carrier from an AK has nothing to do with the issue. How the receiver is marked is all that is being asked. Both ammos will shoot in the rifle.
