On my Century C93 the rails are welded shut, just as they should be. It’s built on an SW receiver (they used several types) This along with taking my feeler gauges with me when I bought it is something I looked for. I looked at several till I found the one I wanted. This is why I wouldn’t buy one sight unseen.

As far as bolt gap, HK specs is .004-.020. Once your BG settles (they all settle some when new) if +4 rollers put you anywhere the middle of HK specs you should be good for many many thousands of rounds. I know a guy over on HK pro who bought a C93 just to put his NFA registered auto pack in and after the initial settling using +4's he is at .009 BG and has since run thousands of rounds in full auto and it has held there steady so far. In a semi auto my .011 with +4's will stay in HK specs longer than I could ever spend on ammo.

Uh HUH!

Tom - the welds on YOUR C93 at where the trunnion sits are what mine SHOULD have been; a nicely filled "U" of weld. Mine are definately not like yours - just simple spots of weld.

Damn; When I went shopping I knew about "straight parts" and bolt-gap, and what to check with my set of gap-guages - but I didn't know diddly squat what to look for in terms of the specifics of the welds.
FWIW, I just seen a C93 that has the same kinds of welds you pictured - again, better than mine. But I like my cosmetics better.

BTW; how can you tell who actually made the recvr on your C93? Is there some hidden stamping somewhere to ID a Spec Weapons, or whatever, recvr??

Thanks!

How to spot a Special Weapons or Hesse receiver on a C93:

-SW Receivers have S/N stamped on the top. Hesse were stamped on the side of the mag well.

-SW has a protruding rib around the bottom of the mag well where the mag makes contact with it. On the Hesse, this rib is up further and just has a flat stamping at the bottom of the mag well.

There are other differences as well, but those are the 2 that I use to tell at a glance which is which.

I read that the first 3000 or so C93's made were built on SW receivers, then Century started suppling their contracted builders with Hesse receivers....can't confirm that, but it's what I read somewhere.

That's why though I'd recommend anyone buying a C93 to look it over first hand because there are several builders assembling these for Century and quaility is all over the place, some are super nice, as good as a Vector, while others can be as bad as some of the old Cetme's, just depends on who put it together and what they used.

Mine was done in grey park which I think Allied armament was doing. I wanted a more "HK" look so I refinished mine in Alumihide II satin black, doing all but the FH. I stripped the crummy black paint off the furniture as well. The clipped and pinned SUO lower came from Shockwave.
