The Italicised verbiage is from the ATF website

ATF has begun sending notices to owners of Forced Reset Triggers, specifically Rare Breed Triggers’ FRT-15s and Wide-Open Triggers (WOTs) in ATF custody that were seized as part of an earlier recall effort with instructions to request their return.

This amounts to an admission that these were never machineguns

They were originally seized claiming ther were machineguns

This decision is initially for the members of NAGR as they were a party to the suit against ATF

In what world does ATF return a device that they considered a machinegun

This is great news !!!

While NAGR lives up to their acronym with their mailers, they do a good job along with GOA.
If the BATFE continues to exist. It needs to be staffed by pro gun people. What is strange is what a blind eye they turn to the alchahol and tobacco. They are even more relaxed on recreational explosives.
Back on topic. There was a form that you were supposed to request if they did confiscate your FRT. I don't remember the number. But it was so you could affirm that you didnt believe there was anything illegal about it. And importantly they could not destroy it. Which those ones are most likely the ones getting returned.
Do you know if with the firing of the attorneys, that any of the on going cases have been dropped?

From what I have read any policy/reg change during Biden has been paused, including court cases. After a review to determine if it is going to pass Constitutional muster they will decide how to proceed. The big question is who will perform these reviews. The head lawyer they fired apparently had no problem with any of them, so that is looking like at least some of them might get changed.

AFT needs to be totally overhauled top to bottom and turned into an advocate for 2A rights. Right now it is essentially like having an agency devoted to voting rights whose main mission seems to be suppression of them.

With the availability, reliability and cost of the Super Safety, I would not recommend the FRT-15.

I have a WOT as well as a SS. The WOT (old two position style) is nowhere near as reliable or versatile as a SS. The WOT takes a lot more energy to run. The only benefit is if it is really important to have a standard AR style safety switch. After using a SS quite a bit, I really like the safety configuration. You can buy 4 SS for the price of one of the drop in cassette FRT's.

I agree with the Super Safety comments. Easy to install and the ones I have worked right out of the bag no issues. Safe, Semi and Super Safe!
The FRT's I have played with can be a chore to get running and it tends to diminish my confidence when I shoot them as I am always looking for them to hang up, even when they run fine. The only FRT that has worked fine no issues is my Alamo-15, but I don't see them for sale anywhere. The Alamo-15 runs like a scalded dog.

When Harris was selling the Alamo, I was tempted, yet broke. I liked the bearing integration. I believe graves got a cease and desist from rare breed.

Thomas Graves (Alamo-15 FRT) was the inventor and owned the patent. RareBreed was paying to license the device and ended up protecting it in court from the ATF and unlicensed mfgers.

I'm glad I purchased and tested it although I sold it and prefer the cost and function of Super Safety.
