I recently picked up a very nice condition AWC MK9 in a suppressor lot I transferred from an estate. Looking for information on it. I am a new member and don't know much about these but they seem to be commonly talked about in this community. The suppressor was mounted on a muzzle device on a 9mm AR. This seemed an odd choice due to the size of this suppressor. What is the most common use for the MK9....specifically with the muzzle device (which I assume is probably 1/2x28)?

What are the value of these second hand? Mine seems to have minimal use. I still have the box and I noticed it can be taken apart for cleaning.

Thanks for the help!

Picture attached. (photo was too large apparently)

They came with different mounting options available. I think they are still one of the quietest subgun suppressors made. They use a coaxial design with an inner tube that holds the baffles and has vents leading to an annulus between the inner and outer tube, which acts kind of like a giant blast chamber.

Back in the day they seemed to be popular with guns like the UZI where they replaced the bbl nut and kept length to a minimum. Also direct thread onto Macs, or 3 lug for HKs. There were also essentially integral models for the Swedish K and S&W 76 with short ported bbls like the SD HKs. Had a screw on collar to block the ports for tuning. I think they had a similar setup for the Sten.

Value today no clue. The later models were shorter and unless it's collected like some of the Mac ones are I would think the long early model would be a tough sell.

The early AWC Mk9 12" x 2" with baffle stack was early 90's when everybody wanted quiet irregardless of can size. all the mp5 & uzi guys doing full mags dumps with subsonic were happy. Later AWC changed to a K baffle stack in the inner tube which made a higher pitch which doesn't sound as nice. Wish i still had the original baffle stack. As the years went by all manufacturers concerned themselves with making cans smaller (and claiming still being equivalent soundwise to the larger cans of the previous years). Value would be whatever a buyer is willing to pay. Some new guy ain't gonna want to buy a years old used can. Some old guy who knows what you have that wants one from back in the day and has a specific application to purchase for might give $200-$300. That plus 200 tax is a fair amount for a back in the day workhorse.

To add to this....
The late Dr Dater told me a long time ago that he didn't think the MK9, MK9K etc...wouldn't be a good candidate for a K baffle stack as that stack was better for higher pressures while the MK9K was more about volume.
I also remember that before I drummed up a lot of interest for the MK9K to return to production around 2005, they kept telling me the Raptor and Mossad were quieter and that while the MK9K had a deeper tone and more pleasing to the ear that lower frequencies travel further...
I said I don't care what it sounds like for other people, I want it to sound good for me!!!
It was later on that they brought it back into production.
