Barrel That Will Feed FN Rounds?

My Vector Uzi will not reliably feed the Flat Nose (FN) rounds that seem to be everywhere. It's hard to find 147 gr 9mm RN subsonic rounds - everyone seems to be using a similar FN projectile.

Is there a barrel available that will reliably feed both FN and RN rounds?

Barring that, is there anything to be done to an existing barrel to make it feed both FN and RN? Having a failure to feed and chamber every 3-4 rounds takes the fun out of FA.

I could just be super careful when buying new ammo (the last ones I ordered APPEARED to be RN on the web site photo but were FN in reality) /

And now I have cases of FN I'd like to be able to shoot in the Uzi.

Yea. I had similar issue of feeding the flat nose stuff. I just decided not to fight it and bought round nose. I'm sure there is some way to get it to feed but to me at the cost of that ammo per round vs 147gr off the shelf locally it was a no brainer

Yep, I only buy round nose 147.
The flat-nose stuff is problematic in most MGs...

US Barrel Shrouds has sold barrels with a little bit of taper to the chamber. Not too extreme, but not IMI spec either. Might want to get a hold of them to see what their actual barrels have for that:
https://shop.usbarrelshrouds.com/UZI-9MM-SEMI-AUTO-1025-THREADED-BARREL-NEW-_p_69.html

In 147's I found the Speer bullet profile was the least/smallest flat surface and this runs better than any other 147 for me in IMI profile barrels:

Alternately - maybe try 158's? Fiocchi moved away from FMJ-RN to FP a while back, but AFIAK Privi and IMI are still FMJ-RN:

(the above in stock, the below I guess are out of stock for now)

I moved to rolling my own 165's for subs and in the UZI run these hotter, but a very reliable bullet:

Hmmm... That barrel is listed as "semi-auto". Will it run in a full-auto Uzi?

Because of the difficulty in finding reasonably priced factory RN 147s, I've been thinking about rolling my own.

Thanks.

Does your Vector have a modified SA feed ramp?
Semi-Auto ramp? I doubt it. It was built from the get-go as a Full Auto.
That tends to solve most feeding problems.
http://www.uzitalk.com/reference/pages/feedramps.htm

If you shoot a lot of HP, FP, or TC ammo, it might be worth it to you to have a gunsmith modify your Uzi, unless it already has a modified SA feed ramp. BWE still makes modified feed ramps http://bwefirearms.com/product/uzi-machined-smg-feed-ramp/
Good info, thanks.

Since I live in the Middle of Nowhere and cannot just ship off my FA Uzi, it would involve significant time and travel to get a gunsmith familiar with Uzi to install a new feed feed ramp. But I have cases of Flat Nose subsonic 9mm and I doubt I'll ever shoot all that much of it in my Glocks. It would be nice to have a weapon that can eat whatever I feed it...

A semi-auto feed ramp was an option people could order on their Vector back when Vector still had the guns in stock. The fact that they were built as full auto in no way restricts what kind of feed ramp is put in the gun.
