So what is the best buffer out there and who is the best to buy it from?

Make em yourself. You can buy sheets of urethane or neoprene from McMaster-Carr for a fraction of the cost of newly mfg'd buffers.

What thickness?

Dumb question, do I just knock the recoil rod pin out to break the bolt down to get the original buffer out without cutting it?

BTW, what size is the pin, I'll order a new one from McMaster while I am at it.

I ordered Shore A durometer 90 polyurethane from McMaster - Carr. As a matter of fact, I made suppressor wipes from the same material, except I used 1/4" stock instead of 1/8" stock for that. I wouldn't go less than Shore A durometer 70. The buffers really take a beating, and anything softer simply won't last. As cheap as the material is, you could order a couple of different types and try them out. Neoprene also makes a good buffer (and a good suppressor wipe) You can even go with 3/16" or 1/4" for more buffer action.

FWIW, and M10 buffer measures 1-1/8" x 1-3/16".

Going by Tunnelrat's specifications, do a search for 8716K35. If it doesn't work, try page 3429 in the catalog. It's 12" by 12", $35.50. That's enough for approx 100 buffers. You could order smaller, larger, thicker, you name it. It's really up to you.

Would the high-grade polyurethane work better than the standard polyurethane for buffers? It says it offers better shock absorption.

You can't make that buffer Spicoli.

Yes I can. My Dad's a TV repairman and he's got an ultimate set of tools. :devil
