Getting a RPB M/10 9mm. What mags are the optimum mags for the Mac10, and who has them in stock? For Suppressors, I'm looking at the Bowers Vers 9s. Is there any others I should consider? The Gemtech Viper looks good but I Don't see them in stock anyplace.

I'd imagine that conversion is drastically less popular now that the guns are worth more than a used car.

Is this a factory 9mm with the trapezoidal magwell?

The viper can be purchased from GSL as a MAC45 or MAC9. The Vers9 is great for the original look. If you want the all-out most quiet, consider a GSL Phoenix.

I have a VERS 9S and I am very happy with it. My M10 has the Uzi mag conversion and I am very pleased with it. Cheap, reliable mags and it runs like a top. I suppose original macs have some collector value outside just being machine guns, but mine is a Texas MAC and needed welds fixed and parts replaced anyway. The Uzi mag conversion was a no-brainer.

Yes this is a factory 9mm gun. Which can is quieter, the GSL viper or the Bowers Vers9?

I'll let some else answer regarding which is more quiet- but I have a vers9s and have messed with a viper- I went with the Bowers product for, (1) outright value and (2) to avoid the set-screw / ratchet attachment of the whole Viper lineup. I didn't like that the fatter "1st stage" portion was purely cosmetic.

Thank you I ordered a bowers suppressor, VERS 9, with blackout option, today. Where are you getting quality mags?

It is my understanding that the Walther magazines have a market value of $150 + a peice. Personally I want to have plenty of mags so I can load them at home. I hate to waste valuable range time loading magazines. My cousin had a Riesing he bought for $2,500. Eventually he had more in magazines than he had in the gun as themagsare expensive. That is why both of my M10s have the Uzi magwell conversion. As I remember I found a bulk deal on German surplus Uzi mags for under $10 each. Double stack, double feed doesn't need a loading tool is awesome.

Ruben had a m10/Uzi conversion a while back and he was asking a grand more for the gun then his other M10’s. He also commented how the gun ran flawlessly.

More volume generally equals a quieter can. With the right ammo (my 165gr 9mm subs) the firing pin on a Glock is powder than the report through a SilencerCo Hybrid 46 with 46cal endcap. It's also goofy quiet with that ammo on my page upper.

Supersonic ammo will always be louder.

I have a Gemtech Viper for my M-10 .45, and I like it very much. My understanding is that it is discontinued by Gemtech and they sold the design rights to another company, I recently ordered some spare locking rings for it from the new company. I’m spacing on the name right now but I’ll do a little google-fu and if I find it I’ll add in an edit. New company doesn’t call it a viper, they have their own model name for it.

Edit- Here it is, GSL technologies. https://otbfirearms.com/gsl-technology-mac-380-9-45-suppressor-gemtech-viper/ They’re currently producing them AFAIK. They were hit and miss on the phone, the first person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about but was convinced they didn’t make it. Then more people assured me that they did. Called back and got a different guy who said “Oh, sure, how many do you want?”

Edit 2- Serves me right for not reading the whole thread first.

GSL is the company that made all of Gemtech's suppressors for them. Gemtech's R&D facility was in Idaho, GSL is in Michigan. Gemtech was sold to S&W who have done nothing with the company. GSL is still making most of Gemtech's products with new names, notably the MK9 under the name Phoenix.

Thank you everyone for your replies, info, and experiences. I got the VERS 9 instead of the 9s for the ability to shoot .300 subs or supers with a different thread adapter, and greatest suppression in .300, as well as the ability to use it in 9mm full auto. Considering the conversion to use uzi mags, the conversion will pay for itself quickly since the M/10 mags are $60, and Uzi mags more like $20-$30.

I can't recommend the Uzi conversion enough. Also be aware that Uzi PRO mags are backwards compatible with regular Uzis. When they are in stock you can get factory new Uzi PRO mags in 20, 25, or 32 round capacities for under $15 each.

I have both the VERS 9 and VERS 9S, I'm very happy with them, you will be pleased.
