I have to disagree with you. Sten mags have one thing going for them. They are cheap. Other than that, they are a pain in the rear. They are difficult to load. Often you have to try out several in order to get a handful that will work. They can be a pain to tune for reliable feeding. You have to chop your gun up and install a new grip. Did I mention that they are a pain to load?

The zytel mags work every time for me. Install metal feedlips and they don't wear out. They can be loaded by hand without killing your thumb.

If you don't like those, get some metal mags from Recon Ord or CDNN. They work out great as well.

Yes, the Recon Ord mags are just great, they work flawlessly.

Can't argue with any of your points, although the zytel mags need a mag loader as well.
But once you get the sten mags tuned to your gun they will last forever and as you said they are CHEAP, and I like lots of mags.
I am very pleased with my sten conversion and would not go back.

The only complaint I have about sten mags is that they are a pain to load. A simple thumb loader takes care of that problem though. Every sten mag I've purchased for my converted M11/9 has worked flawlessly.
