After shooting a friend's M11 with a CAC9, I have decided I must have a suppressor for this SMG now!

Currently I am leaning toward the Trident 9 with a 3 lug mount. I would like to have a high quality and very quiet can and don't ind paying for it.

What suppressors are you guys using? Any recommendations?

That trident is a great can. If you don't want/need the ability to swap to a pistol, I'd consider the MK9K. Remember, you'll have to spend the extra $ on subsonic ammo. I've listened to both of those cans with regular supersonic ammo and was not impressed.

Unless you use subsonic ammo in any 9mm platform, most cans will sound like crap. There's just no way around it. Bear in mind that the M11/9 with it's oversize chamber doesn't suppress very well, but that same CAC 9 on an Uzi will sound good. There's a limited re-sale market on any sound suppressor so I'd buy the best you can afford and plan on keeping it and using it on several weapons. The MK9K is a terrific high volume subgun can while the Trident is very versatile.

If you can get past the size and internal volume, AWC Mk9.

I have mine as Uzi mount for the Uzi, and use it on my M11 that is equipped with a custom made barrel to take the Uzi can.

If you going to run the gun at 1200, then you want volume, CAC-9 I have heard have sounded like a jet engine the farther into the mag dump, due to the pressure inside blowing out the front.

Buy the Mk9K in a 3 lug and run with it. I've heard the Mk9K, sounds fine.

MK9K if you want a dedicated Subgun Can...SRT can build you one very similar. Otherwise a Trident or Trinity are your best bets.

If value supression and reduced blowback over small size go w/ the SCRC MK-25. It's going to give you the most internal volume (needed @ 1400rpm.) It will also give you the least blowback.

and it will be the most quiet

The down side is it's BIG @ 2" x 12"

Thanks for all of the info. We ran SuperSonic ammo through the CAC-9 and while it was not safe w/o plugs it was much quieter. I really do like the Trident and Trinity cans, but since I'll be running this gun at 1200rpm most of the time I think I am going to go with a CAC-9 or a Mk9.

By chance, anyone here from Oregon thathas an MK9?

I can't stand AAC on a personal level, so its not hard for me to not buy their stuff (even if it is great stuff).

No love for the AAC Evo-9?

Not for a mac at speed.

I really like the CAC9. It used to be really the only choice for mac guys. Reason being we were buying macs for $500-$800 and nobody wanted to spend $500-$800 on a suppressor for one. Also I don't know a single person who owns a Mac and does not have a suppressor for it. With the cost of mac type firearms on the rise it makes more sense to me to spend some more money on a more modern can. Keep in mind it will probably make very little difference on a stock mac. I really do like the classic look of the bowers, rpb, sioncs cans though.

Well, I'm getting a Lage upper, so I'm looking for an upper to handle 800 RPM or less.

i would go with a SWR trident. They sound really nice on the lage upper. We shot 2 lage upper macs side by side one with the MK9K and the other with the Trident. They really sounded about identical to me. A few people thought the MK9K was quieter and a few thought the Trident was quieter. What was really impressive though is that the trident is MUCH smaller than the MK9K and is so much more versital. Also on a pistol I can't really tell the difference between a Evo9 and a Trident. The Trident is a little bigger however.

I agree with all of the above. I paid $150.00 for my CAC-9 NIB and I've gotten way more than my money's worth out of that poor can. As I'm sure many know, it does a GREAT job with .22 LR due to it's large volume. I've leaded up the front spacer and blast baffle so badly shooting .22 in full auto you wouldn't believe it. I've whacked the baffle stack, and Tom's taken care of that can like no other manufacturer. You're right, his was really one of the few realistic choices "back in the day."

MACs just don't suppress well. I used the CAC-9 on my F.A. Vector Uzi with a special 3/4 X 10 threaded barrel and it did a very nice job... Much better performance than the MAC either with or with out the MAX-11 upper. I know I'll get flamed, but that was my experience. Yeah, it'll be going on the Glock with the threaded conversion barrel... :slap

Why do you think that is? They're both open-bolt guns, aren't they?

You missed this part, and I suppose I meant to say affordable choices. Even then, I got a good price on a can that was selling for $200.00 NIB. Still, it hasn't been that long ago that you could buy a NIB Coastal can for a MAC for $100.00 to 125.00. I've had this can for some time. In fact, it was my 2nd NFA purchase right after I bought my first SWD M11/9. It's pretty much like chili17 said, when you bought a cheap MAC, you also bough a cheap can to go along with it. It was a unwritten rule. :)

The days MACs selling for less than a thousand dollars have gone the way of $2.00 a gallon gasoline. There weren't quality thread adapters available and custom threaded barrels didn't exist either. You'd have to be nuts to spend four or five hundred dollars on a suppressor and then $200.00 for the tax stamp on top of that just a few short years ago. Times have changed and I'd buy all the can I could afford today. Quality adapters and numerous custom barrels and expert machinist exist who can safely adapt your can for use on another weapon or barrel.

Raptor II

If anyone is interested; I just picked up a new Gemtech Raptor II.
A tiny bit quieter and a tiny bit smaller than the original Raptor.
Nice can.

Were about the blowback? I shot my Trident with my Laged out M11/9 and I think I might never do it again. It sounded good, but it was blinding me, and that's with the supressor gas block installed.
