Hello again everyone!

I want to thank the few guys that answered my post in regards to the NIB Norinco I was thinking about purchasing, you guys saved me from over-paying by $300-$400.

Just this morning I was talking to a gentleman that I am selling my S&W Model 19 this Thursday and it just so happens that he bought a brand new IMI Model A 20+ years ago and has had it ever since in the original packaging and has never fired it. He was thinking of selling it via Armslist and said he would be open to selling it to me. I do not have photos yet but for the sake of my question assume it is perfect in the box with all included accessories.

What should I expect to pay? Just talking on the phone he mentioned $2400-$2500 but I am seeing prices lower than that on completed GB auctions.

ANY advice will be much appreciated as I am fairly new to the IMI/Uzi world and want to attempt to get a fair deal. I know Gunbroker is not always a great indicator of what something is worth so I like to try and do my due diligence before diving into any purchase. Thanks in advance!

I don't know that anyone here can make that buying decision for you as stated. What are your goals?

The price is twice you'd need to pay for a reliable shooter. Though perhaps a thousand less than I've seen some list a "NIB" UZI for in the past.

Maybe Offer 2K?

Way freakin' too close to the city....especially n
I paid a couple grand for my NIB Model A 8 to 10 years ago because I wanted one that no one had effed with. I was not disappointed but I kept it unfired for 2 years because it was NIB. I finally realized that it's a gun and it was made to shoot so I finally did a bit. I bought a Model B a few years ago that I shoot a lot so the Model A is almost NIB.....LOL! I built a garage last year and may sell off the Model A for near the price I paid for it.

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking $1800 is my top price. I just want an original IMI to shoot and enjoy like you said I want one that hasn’t been messed with. I only had one conversation with this guy so far, I’m sure I can work something out with him. If not would you be interested in selling me your Model A if you decide to let it go?

I wasn’t really asking for a decision, I was asking for anyone’s opinion or experience what the gun might be worth. My goal when I buy any gun is to not overpay that way I can enjoy it and IF I ever decide to sell I can come as close to break-even as possible.

Haha I paid that much for my full auto

How long ago?
My two uncles had their FFL years ago and they always had some cool stuff. F/A Uzi is one gun that sticks out in my mind from years ago after they taught me how to shoot they let me shoot their full auto Uzi and I think I was maybe 14 or 15....good times. That’s another reason I want an Uzi because it was one of the very first guns I ever shot once I graduated from BB guns lol.

I think $1500 to $1800 would be about right for a like new in box to NIB UZI A. There were a lot of UZIs imported in the 1980's so they are not that rare.

My opinion, gun shooters and collectors tend to place a lot of value on the name, rather than the gun.

Colt versus Spikes. Anderson arms versus dpms being a few examples for those familiar with AR's.

Or in the case of uzi, you have imi, iwi, action arms, Mossberg, springfield armory, group industries, vector, global machine and tool, century, norinco, and there are certainly a lot more that aren't listed. Funny thing is, several of the ones I named were imported direct from uzi. So, it would be pretty difficult to say that the IMI is better than all the others with a straight face. Nothing wrong with buying the name though if that's what makes you happy.

Personally, I paid about $520 for my Century UC9, which is made by global machine and tool in texas and from a lot of surplus uzi parts and it's been a dang fine shooter. Prices on them have gotten a lot higher the last few years too since they were a fairly short run. Last time I even saw one in stock was almost in $900 territory after tax.

FWIW, I admit to being a collector, but foremost, I'm a guy who likes to shoot more than collecting them and just opening the safe door every now and then just to see them.

1. I guess if you plan to never shoot it, then spending around $2k for a NIB SA uzi from a desirable manufacturer might make sense to some people. Not to me -- I prefer to shoot my guns rather than fondle them. Once you shoot a NIB gun, it becomes a used gun.

2. I think a SA uzi will get real boring real fast. If you want a shooter, get a cheap one because it'll end up in the back of the safe sooner or later.

3. Considering I paid $2750 for a NIB FA using, $2500 for a NIB SA uzi seems crazy.

Actually it's quite easy to say the IMI is better than the other brands. (I'm referring to actual manufacturers, not all the importers and part manufacturers you listed.) In terms of materials, manufacturing quality, fit and finish, the IMI carbine is clearly the best. In terms of collectability, the IMI carbine is clearly the best. That doesn't mean it's the right choice for everyone because the IMI comes at a cost and other alternatives can be very suitable, but there's no question that a factory IMI is the best alternative.

I've owned 3 semi IMI UZI's and never ever had any issues with function or any issues shooting WWB all day long. I though about a Vector once but didn't. The IMI is a very well made gun IMO and my favorite gun!

I do not have a lot of experience with Israeli made weapons but the little bit that I do have has certainly been positive. I was at a gun show recently and bought one of the older Baby Eagles in stainless/hard chrome and I must say it is one of the nicest guns I’ve bought in a while in terms of quality, fit and finish. Everything on the gun reaks of quality.
I also bought a fairly new item a few months back which is the ZORE gun lock which is also made in Israel and it is a damn fine product as well. If anyone reading this is in need of a gun lock you should check them out. In my opinion they are simply the best, easiest, and most secure lock out there!
They even have a network capability so you can get alert if someone even moves or touches your gun.
I am going to go with the IMI. Today is the day I am meeting with this gentleman and if he will come down to $1800-$1900 I am going to buy. I know I’ll regret it eventually but to me it is worth having the original IMI and not a clone. I went the clone route with my MP5 and even though I love it I still find myself thinking all the time I wish it was an HK!

Thanks guys! I appreciate everyone’s input!

What part of buying the IMI would you regret ? Fit and function will be awesome and the resale will trump all the clones .

OP not sure about your part of the country but $2400-2500 sounds good for a NIB model A with all the original items. Collectors firearms here in Houston routinely list used models for over $3k

I would ask what all is included get pics then buy and be happy with your New Uzi.

Yeah I’m going for it! The guy I am buying it from bought it himself brand new and has never fired it and has all of the original packaging and accessories with it. Even the box looks really clean and fresh. I feel pretty good paying $2200 for it as I’m going to keep it and one day my kids will own it. Thanks to everyone that replied!
