These bolts are amazing. Best money spent ever for me. And Vegas is excellent to buy from.

I bought three tungsten bolts from Vegas SMG. Tom has always provided first rate service and I also enjoy talking with him over the phone. These bolts are like precious metals! Love them.

Tom, do you have any more or is Sam the only source now?

Thanks for the kind words and accolades. I’m always happy to take calls and answer your questions. In the past, I’ve spent considerable time on the phone with guys who had no intention of purchasing a bolt but were just curious. I honestly don’t mind, and I’m here if you need me.

I have A bots in stock ready to ship in either the M-11/9 or M11-A1 configurations. Same price.

Tom will tell you that he is selling the CFW 9mm A-bolt as a 9x19 conversion for the SWD 380 M11A1 SMG with the large grip and a 9x19 (9mm) mags and barrel as that is the most reliable configuration.

I'm having good luck with the A-Bolt with and 9x17 (380acp) ammo. I have been using a RPB 380 SMG with a small grip and small metal mags.

Here is the data I recorded earlier in the year.
46127280262_8b4821853b_o.png

These ROF numbers tested with 1/4" neoprene buffer
Future testing with 1/8" urethane buffer generated about 25-50 fps slower RPM.
ROF - Rate of fire in rounds per minute
#RT – Number of rounds tested

Failure Codes:
LPS - Light primer strike, rounds enters chamber but bolt speed/force insufficient to detonate primer
MFS- Magazine feeding stoppage, rounds fail to feed up magazine before bolt closes due to drag from steel case or COAL in 380 magazine body
FTF – Failure to feed, rounds fail to enter chamber completely
FTE – Failure to eject, fired case caught between bolt and barrel
FTS – Failure to strip, bolt/recoil spring does have enough speed/force to strip rounds from a magazine loaded to 30. Federal Champion functioned with 28 rounds in magazine.
NA, Not available, unable to produce 10+ rounds of continuous fire to determine ROF
* Remington UMC was tested with 2 boxes from 2 lots. One box was significantly more reliable than the second. One box was significantly unreliable. The cases from one box were cosmetically blemished and splattered with dark oxidation.

If you want to run 9x19 (9mm) and 9x17 (.380) there needs to be two different length recoil springs.

65-63 coils on the recoil spring for .380.

90+ coils on the spring for 9mm.

*Using 65-63 coil recoil spring with 9mm ammo could cause damage to the lower receiver.

One small correction.
The A bolt is also being sold for use in the M-11/9. The original CF-W bolt for the M-11/9 has been discontinued in favor of the A bolt. One bolt can be used in two different platforms and multiple uppers.

Does the 380 data apply only to the revised A bolt? Tom, do you have any in stock?

Yes, the above data only applies to the revised, 2nd generation A bolt and only when used with the small magwell guns.

Is there any easy way to identify the generation of an A-bolt?

For anyone wondering about the gen 2 full size CFW vs the A bolt in the m11/9, I have over 50k rounds through the former but now prefer the new A bolt.

Yes there is. The MM on the bolt is engraved in smaller letters on the new, 2nd generation bolts.

There’s no reason not to buy a used 1st generation A bolt on the open market. They do exactly what they were advertised to do which is converting a large magwell .380 gun to 9mm, or as a slow fire bolt for use in an M 11/9.

The chief difference is the 2nd generation A bolt can be used in the small magwell M-11 and M11-A1 guns to run .380. A slow fire .380 bolt was always the goal behind development of the A bolt, and other uses were a happy if somewhat unexpected outcome. Five prototypes later, (including trying a different alloy), this bolt is as good as I can make it.

As TCC stated, many of us who own both bolts and have poured a lot of rounds through each to really know the difference, now prefer using the A bolt in the M-11/9.

1st prototype A Bolt CF-W .380. Only 1 made and VEGAS has it. It is unrecognizable now as it has been scalped again and again.

2nd prototype A bolt. The one I own and tested with the .380 small grip. It's the same as newest generation with the EXP9mm engraving.
