If someone could verify and prove they are genuine IMI barrels, they would sell out in a heartbeat. Someone else told me these barrels have none of the typical IMI markings, which makes "proving" they are IMI next to impossible I think. A different person told me these were made "FOR" IMI by a third party contractor outside of Israel, and that is where the "IMI" claim is coming from. If they are made by a third party, then their value as original IMI barrels plummets to what they are selling for. I'd buy 9 or 10 if they were genuine, and I have bought two knowing they may very well not be.

These are the very same. South American contract bbl's, most likely Columbia.

I own one. Not sure if I would install this on a build.

I wish someone could prove they are from South America.

Being serial numbered before fitted to a rifle makes this a little more guess work.

Although some countries, the barrel is the rifle, not the receiver. Go figure.

I thought new barrels could be imported, not used military barrels. I thought I read that somewhere. I don't study the law though.

You can read all about what types of barrels are allowed/disallowed for import on the ATF's site here -> http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/standard-restriction-stamps-for-import-permits.html#51

Basically, it's ok to import barrels for "sporting firearms", but not for surplus military or NFA firearms.

Last i checked the Galil is considered a military firearm- i.e. carried by the armed forces of more than one county and the kits in the U.S. are mil. spec. surplus.

Has anyone made a YES or NO call on these? Whether they are worth putting on a build or not? $70 + shipping is not the issue for me, what it is is whether they are a good barrel that will shoot true for 8,000 - 10,000 rounds or so.

Maybe he isn't impressed unless it is marked IMI? To me, if they are correct in profile, fit, finish and shoot straight it's all good, unless the barrel is meant for a collectable rifle, then other factors come into play.

Imported barrels seem to be available, East German, Romanian and now Galil. The answer is in the proof marks on these " IMI barrels". Anyone have a contact in Columbia ?
