Colt Carbine

I've recently acquired a new Colt Carbine LE6920. I've always wanted an AR and finally took the plunge. To be quite honest I know very little about the AR's, and after shooting a friends Bushmaster, did I decide to get one.
If I were to mount a good optical system and use quality ammo, what kind of accuracy should I expect to get at 100 yards off the bench?
Could I expect to use it for 100 to 200 yard groundhogging?

Hello...Using the carbine you mentioned with good factory 55gr FMJ off a bench, 2 inch groups or smaller are not uncommon. Check on the top of your barrel by the front sight and you can see what twist rate it is.... a 1/7 is one twist every 7" of barrel, 1/9,1/12, etc. If you want to shoot the heavier 69gr + bullets you will need a 1/7 or 1/9 twist. If you zero your carbine at 25 yards that will put you into a six inch circle out to 250 yards....addding a low powered scope will greatly tighten up your groups. Optics

Part of the joy of owning a military style rifle is the rapid fire aspect. sure you can make them tack-drivers with the right barrel and trigger group. However, to me there is nothing more fun then nailing pop-up targets or bowling pins at 30 yrds.
Try an aimpoint comp m2 or ml2. Thats what I do.
