I have finished development of a top cover/mount for the Trijicon RMR red dot optic.

This mount replaces your existing top cover. The mount is TIG welded to the top cover, no screws to come loose on the mount. Two versions will be available. One for the SMG Uzi and one for the semi-auto Uzi. The semi-auto version has a spacer block TIG welded to the rear of the cocking slot. Both version will have the ratcheting mechanism allowing the operator to lock the bolt back. Finish is manganese phosphate (parkerizing) and the production versions will be darker that those pictured below. Anyone who has seen my Burris Fast Fire top covers or extended charging handles can attest to how dark the parkerizing is. The red dot co-witnesses with the iron sights. Screws, star washers, allen wrench, and instructions included.

Price to be determined. Robert at RTG will be carrying these. Please let him know of your interest.

Thanks,
James

Little bit of thread drift here Teps, but applicable to your topcover. What Model RMR are you fellas using? They have the battery powered ones and the tritium ones along with bigger and smaller dot sizes and colors. The RMR is kinda spendy, so do you guys that own them find them worth the money compared to the FF, or DR? Would you purchase another if you had to do it over.
Who has the best price on these?

Was contemplating buying the Docter, but as long as I have waited, I think I'll wait a bit longer for pricing on the Trijicon.

Can't wait.

I'm in for the RMR topcover for my SA Uzi as well.

I've got a Vector Mini Uzi Carbine that I would like to mount a Burris Fastfire 3 on. Can you do these as well? If so I'm in! Also who does Black Cerakote refinishing on these guns? Thanks. ;-)

Gentleman, thank you for the replies. We are currently swamped with orders for Docter/FastFire top covers, but this product is still in the pipeline. Target price is $129 for the SMG and $139 for the Semi. As with our FastFire top cover, the semi version will utilize a spacer block tigged into the cocking slot to allow the ratchet mechanism to function as a bolt-hold-open. This also makes it easier to insert a fully loaded magazine into the firearm as the closed bolt does not compress the round/follower. The SMG top cover can operate with a semi if the ratcheting paw/spring is removed.

My Internet connection at the shop is down (sending this from my phone) and as soon as service is restored I will provide better pics.

As for the mini version, I have been trying without success to locate a mini top cover so I can produce a welding fixture. If anyone knows of a mini top cover at a reasonable price, please let me know. Once I have the fixture complete I would be able to install this sight base on customer supplied top covers.

Thanks again for your interest,
James

Thanks for the quick reply James...Waiting patiently (impatiently?) for a RMR cover, cash in hand. As a side question...If I get a Docter/FastFire top cover instead, does the RMR with the adapter still co-witness, or is it too high?

MAC-DADDY, thanks for the info on the mini top cover, but the gunbroker listing is for a cut down top cover. I prefer to dimension the welding fixture from an original IMI mini top cover. Does anyone have a top cover they could lend me for this purpose, or anyone with a mini top cover and a dial caliper willing to take some measurements for me? Dimensions I need are length of the cocking slot, length of the cocking slot cover, and overall length of the top cover. Thanks.

Here are additional pics. This top cover has been finished in Cerakote 18:1 with the cocking knob and cocking slot cover finished in parkerizing. The original pictures were of the parkerizing we do in-house. We send parts out for refinishing and the result is a much darker parkerizing than we can do in-house. This gives you a good idea of just how dark the production parkerizing is compared to Cerakote black. As you can see, there are no externally visible welds. There are two alignment "pins" machined into the sight base to assist with returning to zero should you use your RMR on other firearms and wish to move it around.
