Hi all,

I just picked up a Commando Mark 45 chambered in .45 ACP, and I’m trying to figure out the year of manufacture or at least the general production period.

Here’s what I have:

  • Model: Commando Mark 45
  • Serial Number: 50826
  • Markings: “PATENT NO 3695143” on the receiver
  • No other documentation came with the firearm.
From what I’ve read, these were made by Volunteer Enterprises (later Commando Arms) sometime between the late 1970s and late 1980s. I’d really appreciate it if anyone could help me narrow down the year or compare it to similar serial numbers.

Thanks in advance!

Post a pic.

Round or square upper receiver part?

I'm guessing square...If round you got a good one.

Does it take Thompson mags or Grease Gun mags? I used to have one that took the Thompson mags. It was an enjoyable gun, but not very high quality. Still, it never failed me. I may still have a scan of an instruction manual for it if you're interested (there isn't much to it).
