Just wondering if you all think this process would be a legit (kosher) way to turn a detachable wood stock into a non-detachable wood stock for an Uzi?
Remove the three screws from the metal “quick release” hardware from the wood stock.
1. Drive out the pin from the “quick release” lever.
2. Remove the “quick release” spring and lever. toss the spring, KEEP THE LEVER.
3. Using a bastard file, form fit (with the help of a taper pin) a piece of about 1/8 inch round steel into the spring space. Make sure the “quick release” lever does not move .001mm front to back or side to side.
3.25 Unload, disassemble, your Uzi to a bare receiver. Remove any stock attached. Attach “quick release” metal hardware to your Uzi receiver. DO NOT ATTACH A QUICK RELEASE STOCK TO YOUR UZI UNLESS YOU ARE NFA LEGAL!
4. Using a taper pin to help you form fit in step 4, use the same taper pin to help you drive in the same pin and “quick release” lever you removed in step 2, again the “quick release” lever should not move .001 front to back or side to side.
5. Use a Big Frigging Hammer to drive that pin back in from step one.
6. Your formerly “quick release” wood stock now requires you to un-screw 3 screws to get to that roll pin, a hammer and punch to remove the same pin just to remove that “quick release” wood stock.
7. This should cost about $4 in 2011 and take about half an hour. Use the cpi to adjust for inflation.

Let me know if there is a flaw in my thinking.

thanks

The way i did mine was pretty simple. Went to Lowes & bought a allen screw, a nd a brass ferrule with the same thread size. I drilled a hole through the stock so that the screw went behind the QD lever. It was an interference fit against the lever,so a little bit of "clearancing",with a rat tail file made for a tight fit.I then counter bored one side for the screw head, the other side for the ferrule & epoxied it in.I re-finished the stock,& sanded the ferrule flush with the wood. Now it takes the removal of one screw to remove the stock.

Thanks,
I was thinking of doing a screw before I thought of just using a bit of round bar. I finished mine last night and it works great. There is no way that stock is coming off unless I remove the stock and drive out the pin. The QD lever is there but it might as well be welded in place.
I just wanted to make sure it was legal.

Yes,its legal as long as it requires a tool of some kind to remove to stock.
