Devalue with SBR conversion?

I have an excellent condition pre-ban IMI model B. It has the hard plastic case and all the accessories. My problem is I really want to do the SBR conversion to it. Will this effect the value of the rifle much? Would I be better getting a second rifle (like the Vector or Norinco) and making the conversion with that rifle? Thanks

I dont see how it would hurt the value. You could always have it removed from the registry and put the 16" barrel back in it.

About the only devalue is how it is marked... The gun has to be marked with your info since you will be the manufacturer of the SBR... Some people would say your info (name city state etc) would deter a collector... ATF has said you can mark the barrel but you will have to mark all the short barrels you use... Plus it is hard to mark on a round barrel...

If you keep it as a tittle II (SBR) some people don't want to pay the transfer tax or go thru the hassle... But like Timspawn said you can remove its SBR status... ( but no tax refund)

I just sent off my Form 1. After approved and engraved, can the long barrel not go back on temporarily, say for an hour at the range? Or does the gun legally have to stay that length?

No hijack meant, but does SBR hurt the value as well?

No as long as you have the firearm SBRed you can use any size barrel... Even different length short barrels...
