Dear Sirs

In movie "Escape from New York" Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) has gun MAC M-10.

Now I am asking, does anybody knows, what is caliber in this gun,
45ACP or 9x19mm Luger/Parabellum?

I would say it is a 9mm, the .45 is hard to convert to blank firing. Most of the time the 1911s used in movies are firing blanks in 9MM or .38 Super they produce a higher pressure which adds in cycling the weapon.

MACs in movies

The best was Death Wish III, the gang-lord had a 9mm MAC-10 and was blowing up cars with it. The stock was always folded/ compacted and he never used the sights. When I watch these movies, I wonder if I get more entertainment value from the comedy of it, or the action anymore.

Guns with folding stocks on movies... they are always folded and never extended, unreal.

I think it's safe to say that just about every M-10 you see in the movies is 9mm. I've pretty much seen them ALL and the only time I've seen a .45 M-10 was on an episode of Miami Vice where John Leguizamo wielded one (Texas MAC) while playing a drug lord.

All of the classics fromthe 1970's and 80's all use 9mm M-10's. I figure they used cheaper blanks, and might also have cycled better due to the smaller diameter of the barrel (even with the blank adapter).

This reminds me of a funny scene in a Steven Segal film called "On Deadly Ground". Segal is basically killing off the entire crew of an oil pumping station, and one of the crewman played by Billy Bob Thornton is holding what I remember to be a SW76. Thornton's character asks his buddy if he should keep the stock folded and feel good about himself when he kills Taft, or if he should extend the stock and shoot more accurately, but look like a pussy for doing it.

Dont remember all the details exactly, since I havent seen it in around a decade. I do remember R. Lee Ermy in it as well.

The gas station biker shootout?

In RoboCop a guy used a Powder Springs 45.

If that's the scene, IIRC... it was a Military Armament Corporation TEXAS MAC 10. It's the one with the long, muzzle brake instead of threads.

No doubt "Snake" was outfitted with a 9mm; scences show the 9mm mag housing which is easily discernable from the .45 (not to mention the mag stops on the side of the mag; RPB and other cheap aftermarket). It was also a semi auto RPB made to fire full auto, and I would assume blanks! No hanger strap hardware and no provision as seen from the rear receiver for a wire stock

Really got a kick out of the optics mounted on top of the sionics suppresor! What a precision mount for a scope.

Also the guards using M-16's without barrel shrouds really made good sense. I hope some Hollywood anti-gunner got a good hold of the barrel while firing F.A.!

Maybe that's part of why some are anti-gun!
