Feed issues

My brother has a SA Ranch Rifle and when he releases the bolt the round jams between the bolt and the feed ramp. This is with factory Ruger mags. Any ideas as to what the problem might be.

Do you only have the one mag and is it a 5, 20 or 30 rounder or is there multiple mags available and all do the same?
Are the magazine feed lips damaged?
Is the ammo factory or reloads, if reloads check the overall cartridge length?
If factory ammo, what brand is it and does it meet SAAMI spec for cartrige length.
Type of bullet?
Is the op rod and recoil spring guide installed correctly? The angled tip of the spring guide faces down, opposite of barrel.

I had similar issues. And the culprit was 2 bad mags. No problems since.
