I've been searching for one of the throw lever Galil mounts for quite some time and it finally arrived today!

I was lucky to find the one with the M16 style carry handle rail which should be very versatile since there are tons of adapters and optics designed to fit this.

I had a surplus M16 carry handle to Trilux adapter that I'm going to try first. With this setup, the left eye is positioned perfectly to use the Trilux SUIT with my cheek firmly planted on the stock. Feels a little strange but I think it will work very well.

Anyone have any experience with this setup?

Love mine. And I agree, it works well with the left eye and I like that you can still use the irons easliy. Mine is a little different, as it's a SUIT mount only.

Great pictures guys & of course nice rifles and scopes! Double_action I was curious, your handguard looks like a AR style handguard, but it appears longer than the ones I have seen. Is it in fact longer or is it just the way the picture is taken? Thanks Lou

It's longer. I got them from ORF in 2008. I don't know if they are SA or what, but I like them. There's a thread here somewhere that has more pictures of the handguards but I can't find it.

OP- Excellent find, the M16 mounts are hard to find for the Galil and very useful!

Lou-

Page one of the R4 thread has a comparison shot of all three (AR/R4/R4-ish) but ORF put them out there from around 2006 to 08/09 at first as wood pieces only, then I think they salvaged some metal liners and built up complete handguards. They are an odd bird, R4 length but not able to accept a bipod (which means they were not officially used in SA) and several hundred (thousand?) were surplused and picked up by ORF who was mum about where they really came from.

So...were these mounts (Trilux style & M16 rail) ever used by any military or were they made for the civilian market? Anyone have any photos showing military use?

Congratulations! That is the exact same mount that I have and I love mine as well. I've got an ACOG mounted in mine. I'm so glad I bought one about 10 years ago. Even back then the price was very high. I felt like I was over paying for it but at the same time I felt like it was now or never. I've never regretted spending the money I paid for it.

Hello,
Good looking guns. I have been collecting for a few years. Retired from the Army in 2004 and now have more time to devote to my hobby.
I have seen Trilux sights on M16 handles. The Israeli samples that I have seen have large mounting nuts that are tethered to the mount by heavy mono-filament line. The Galil/M16 mount appears to be an Israeli retro-fit or civilian product.
The Trilux mount on my Galil is similar to Double_action's mount. These remind me of a PVS-2 mount with the Trilux mount riveted to the night vision scope mounting surface. You will need a cheekrest that off-sets your head to the left.
Here are my Israeli 7.62 arms.
