Started gathering for my first build. Have kit and McKay receiver. Seems most places that sell bolt carriers etc are out of stock. Is this a cyclic thing or am I late to the party?

Try APEX and if it's not on their site call.
They have a ton of stuff that just doesn't get listed or shopping carts that don't get restocked once emptied.

I think their converted bolts are 189 + shipping ????

And yes it's cyclical as to when a company decides to do a run of what ever for what ever.

Also a WTB in the parts section as that gets a ton of traffic here.

Welcome to UT.

Unfortunately the listing states their bolt will not fit the McKay receiver. Guess I’ll keep an eye on the classifieds, RTG and McKay. Thanks for the response/welcome

Odd

Never used a McKay I always have used either BWE shells or USBARRELSHROUD shell ( same shell just in stock at different times.)

Contact Richard @ BWE he is a vendor here and great to deal with.

getting the McKay shell makes it easier but it's more expensive as you are more then likely buying everything premade and paying for the receiver to already be welded up.

Who'd you source your kit from?

I currently have two of the Numrich BF 104 shipped specials that came withthe wood stocks but are missing the feed ramps and grip lugs.
I have the prints for both and can mill out a feed ramp in about a hour and a half from bar stock to weld in.
Much faster then shipping at any price.

My builds average about 400 with a kit barrel and shell. these Numrich kits should come in @ less then 350 due to kit price.

Gathered up everything except the sear. Bolt was on GB and I probably paid too much but.. I profiled the sear to work and did some function testing. Had feeding issues which turned out to be the mag. Ran well on others. Any thoughts on finishes or finishers?

Wow, those are some nicely parkerized receivers. Were they re-welds from a parts kit with repair channel, or did you weld the parts onto a full receiver shell?

John at AR15Sport.com just parkerized my receiver. Looks perfect like the ones pictured above.

He also did my NFA engraving. Also perfect and a very decent price.

Very happy with their work and I would use them again.

How much for their services to parkerize your receiver?
