Hi I'm brand new to the Uzi and I need some help. Long story short my Dad bought an IWI Uzi back in the early 90s and barly used it. He recently gave it to me as a gift. So I took it out to the range and ended up with a bunch of failure to feeds. The 9mm would jam right at the chamber. I wasn't sure if it was the one 25 round magazine I have or if its a barrel issue. I say barrel issue because I read online that some people had barrel issues and they had to use a grinder to open the chamber up then polish it. I'll post pics of the barrel and if someone could tell me if thats the case. Thanks.

Try a new Mag first. That's always the 1st place to check

In addition to taking apart the magazine, and trying another. Make sure the barrel nut is ratcheted all the way down and the barrel is fully seated/not loose. What ammo were you using, FMJ? If it hasn’t been used in a long time, do a good cleaning and lube.

Welcome to the site. Is it an IMI or IWI? Both are good weapons, but want to make sure what we are talking about. A lot of good advice on this site. I would check magazine, ammo and top cover gap in that order before I even considered grinding on a barrel.

I used FMJs. I cleaned and lube everything before taking it out and made sure everything was tight. I think I'll get a mag first and try that before anything else.

IWI Uzi. Not sure about top cover gap but when I put the top cover back on it sits tight

What Ammo? Make sure you are not using weak stuff. I've never seen an issue with the IMI/OEM Style chamber faces. The super tapered barrels are made to work with less than perfect spec stuff.
