Hernando Sportsman’s Club is hosting a 2nd SMG match (See Flyer above). The match will be held on 11/23/25 (Sunday).

After the match is over, we might be able to shoot other machine guns, time permitting.

Hey Kickstand, unfortunately the Tennessee contingent (Keith & Alex) will not be able to attend your event this time. We were really looking forward to it, but due to a previously scheduled event (that our wives planned), we’re stuck in Chattanooga this weekend.

I hope you have a great turnout, and please post the next scheduled event as soon as possible so we can get it on our calendar before our wives book something else for that weekend.

Just a bit of advice for those attending….bring some Deep Woods Off bug spray to keep the sand fleas (no see-ums) at bay. They were brutal back in March!

The no see-ums are not biting this time of year. Usually from late March to September. Sand fleas? Were you shooting by the ocean? Probably mosquitoes that time of year.

How’d the match go? I wanted to make it down there but schedule just was not going to cooperate this year.

How’d the match go? I wanted to make it down there but schedule just was not going to cooperate this year.

The turn out was dismal (kinda figured it was going to be low due to Thanksgiving and people wouldn’t want to travel twice in a week). We only had 5 shooters there.

That being said, it was great because we were able to run the stages as many times as we wanted to (I ran one stage 7 or 8 times). It was a really laid back fun time, messing around and blasting ammo).

I got a lot of practice with my MK760 with subgun.store 22LR conversion kit and M11/9 (Lage 22LR kit). My 22 kits barrels were leading really bad a rounds were going all over the place. My Lage kit was so bad that I stopped using it. I had to beat a cleaning rod down the barrel and tons of lead came out and I’ve got it soaking in a solution because I can’t get it all out (I think the barrel is well past its life expectancy). Thankfully, the MK760 barrel cleaned up like new. Also, we were able to shoot PCC guns too.

The next time we do one, it’ll be combined with HSC PCC match (like the first sub gun match was, earlier in the year) or we might do the sub gun match after the PCC match (if we’re going to have a higher number of people turn out). I expect the next match, will have a lot more sub gun guys though.

We didn’t take much video but I’ll try to compile what we recorded and post video later today.

Sorry to hear turnout was low, but I can confirm that the proximity to Thanksgiving was part of the issue (at least for me). Still sounds like yall had a lot of fun and hopefully I can make the next one. It is too bad you can’t have FRTs in Florida, that would really open up the subgun of faux-subgun class.

We kinda knew Thanksgiving was a problem but I don't want to have the match when Port Malabar has theirs and this was the other date available.
Yes, it would be great to have FRTs down here in the gunshine sate (allegedly); unfortunately, that’s not an option. I have heard there’s tons of guys down here with them at public ranges (I try just to shoot at my place or my friends 40 acre pit). I haven’t even seen one in real life yet.

Stage 5:
The course of fire changed quite a bit. Originally, you were supposed to shoot the 50-yard steel silhouette from three (3) openings (window/door) on both catwalks (left and right). We later changed it a few times but in the video, it’s one door and one window per side. After that, you move to the first blue barrel to engage the plate rack, then advance to the second blue barrel to shoot the silhouette, the plate rack, the second silhouette, and finally finish on the orange square target at about 50 yards.

Stage 3:
You start by shooting through the window in the corrugated black plastic tube, then move to the opening in the mesh material, shooting at paper targets. From there, you proceed up the alley—without stepping out bounds—and engage all the steel targets. (Note: the plate rack wasn’t set up for this run.)

Again, this was just messing around and having a fun time. We had 5 stages again (I think the flyer said 4) but I believe it’s better to over deliver.
