I'm sure this has been asked before. However, can someone tell me what the average round count down the tube of an FN FNC is before the barrel is considered shot out?:thinking

Tnx,

Gary

That will depend greatly on how it is shot. Mag dumps erode barrel throats faster than individual shots and short bursts do. Bi-metal jacketed bullets (i.e. Wolf and the like) can also cause more wear than copper jacketed bullets, but not drastically more.

In general, they last about as long as other hard chrome electroplated barrels in 5.56x45. 8k-10k rounds is not unreasonable if mag dumps are avoided. After all, were talking about a battle rifle here, not a precision bench rest rifle. I've seen 5.56x45 chrome lined barrel wear out in as few as 2k rounds when they are primarily used for mag/drum dumps. Of course, sometimes mag dumps are just plain fun. :mg

10.000 in semi is reasonably. They are well made.
The 1 on 7 goes faster out as the 1 on 12 twist

if taken care of well, and you dont do mag dumps, i think that 15-20k isnt out of the question .. they are chrome lined if i remember .. i think most here that replied are being very conservative..
