Is the new e form 4 faster than paper. Im purchasing a Micro from an individual in another state that doesn't have an account set up on the ATF site and is not that computer literate. Its going to my SOT and wondering if the e form is faster, and if there is an EZ work around. I watched the tutorial and it talks about verifying the transferor with his pin. If its a paper form, I'll be doing the PW and sending it to the seller for signature.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Bill

The ones that have come back have been consistently faster than paper. There is an approval tracker thread on the NFA board on Reddit if you want to see what others are reporting. I'm around 95 days for an efile and still pending right now, expecting to see it move soon based on times others have been getting.

If you are buying from an individual, he'll still have to file a paper form 4 to transfer the gun to your SOT since the eform 4 system is only for dealers. But your SOT can efile to you and that will save you a lot of time on the second transfer anyways.

eform only works outbound from a FFL right now. You can't use it for the first of the two required transfers.
You would be able to use it from your dealer to you.

I recently purchased a BRP STF-76/45 from an out of state seller. The paper form 4 to my dealer took just over two months. I also recently purchased a M11 .380 that transferred via an eform 4 from my dealer to me. It was submitted 3/28/2022 and approved 6/14/2022. I'm picking it up tonight. Hopefully you are not in for too long of a wait.

A 2-month paper F4 to dealer is super fast.
