M11/9 w/Max-11.

I found a live 9mm round inside the upper behind the bolt. It had a sharp dent on one side of the casing, halfway up the casing, perpendicular to the axial.

The gun was disassembled, cleaned, fired at the range, brought home, disassembled and I found the round. At no other time was the upper removed from the lower. I have the Viper-9 locking ring on it, which needs to be removed to take the gun apart, so I only remove the upper for cleaning.

Any ideas?

My guess would be you are using a Zytel mag' with worn feedlips. A round popped out, fell into the lower receiver while a second round advanced in time for it to be picked up by the bolt.

There was a photo here of an M-11/9 firing with empties and an un-fired round coming out the ejection port. Possibly, yours just didn't make it out the ejection port and went down instead.

I see that all the time ROing the matches. People slap in the mag and 1-2 live rounds pop out the ejection port

Had it happen several times myself - 2 of the three were spent but I did end up with 1 live round. In my particular case I do beleive it was from smackin' the mag up.
