I just purchased a Century Galil Golani with UTG qual rail. I pick it up in a few days. I certainly have heard a lot of bad press on these as far as build quality goes.
Mine is stamped with an "F" which I believe means 'now has firing pin spring'. The serial number is in the middle of the recall range. After doing some poking around
I found that Red Jacket Firearms has a 'rebuild package' service on these.

CENTURY REBUILD PACKAGE - $250.00
Fully inspected for proper riveting and headspacing - FCG replaced with smooth and tuned G2 - Machine marks removed
from bolt and carrier - Receiver tuned, rails planed and smoothed - Sight assembly/gas block aligned -
Complete refinish with KG Industries GunKote 2401 - For hi-cap mag conversion to WASR's +$75.00

Has anyone ever sent their Galil Golani to them for this? Do you think it would be a good idea? I certainly trust their workmanship more than Century.

Any problems w/ these guns are correctable. If a reputable company has gone over the gun and will stand behind it if there are still some nagging issues. I'd say pull the trigger! I had some issues and my shop was willing to look at it. Turned out to be shitty ammo, I've had ZERO probs since running a little bit better (not expensive by any means- just better quality) ammo. You'll love this gun!

PS- I have no experience w/ the rebuild package...

Thanks

I have yet to shoot the gun so I guess we'll see. I didn't think $250 was all that bad to go through it completely and to make parts smooth and polished and equal and repainted. Guess I should shoot it first, then see if there are any problems. Just thinking ahead.

Please do shoot it and let us know. I would be willing to try them for $250 bucks. I've wasted more than that at the casino. Not by much but a little more over the last year.:chainsaw

So they'll do that on any Century build? I don't think it's a bad price.

I had a totally FUBAR'd Golani that even TennGalil couldn't fix without it costing $1000. So, it went back to Bud's Gun Shop.
