I need a spare locking collar for my Gemtech .45. Gemtech is out. Does anyone know of an alternate source?

Call GSL technology and see if they have any. They were the back end mfg for gemtech and own a bunch of the patents. I don't see a viper style suppressor in the 2018 catalog but if you look at their facebook they have pictures of viper's with gsl's marking on them.

I used them to get an extra p90 qd mount as gemtech hasn't sold them for a while as far as I can tell.

I just called Gemtech and was told the next run of locking collars are currently in QC and would be up on their website within the next couple weeks.

I got the same response when I called. I am giving Gemtech a little time before I call GSL.

Called back a second time last Thursday. Same young man once again promised to call right back after the person who knows what's up gets out of the meeting that he has apparently been in for the last two weeks.
Both times I called, the young man mentioned the collars were coming from Smith & Wessson.

so never...thanks for the update. I was really excited about S&W taking over, but have now regretted that thought and think what they were trying to achieve backfired.

I have been on the “will notify when available” list for over a year, I call every 3-4 months and check, never the same guy. I get the impression that this part is not a high priority for Gemtech. I have had my viper9 for more than a decade and love it. I will reach out to GSL Technology today and update with their response.

I was hoping smith and wesson would do better but the lawsuits between them and the old owners and the supply issues don't look good. Hopefully they can turn it around.

It's been a month since I was told two weeks so I thought I'd try again. I didn't get a straight answer but got the impression they'll never be available from Gemtech again.

Did anyone ever speak to GSL Technology?

Any word from them about the locking collars?

Had mine break in half at the range today.

I called GSL today on something unrelated. They still offer the viper style can(their owner designed it) and have the locking collars for them. Since I have a viper 45 incoming I ordered a spare collar along with the g36 bi-lug mount I had originally called to order from them.

That is good news! How much was the locking collar, and do you have a part number that I can reference when I call?
Thanks,
dvader

They just called it a .45 acp ring lock. I called in and the sales guy was out so they took a message and Greg(the owner and the guy who designed the viper) called me back to answer my questions. I've talked to him a few times over other questions like the gt-556 asking if it was pretty much a g5-t which he got a laugh out of and about their real p90 suppressor. He told me for semi auto the gt-556 was cheaper and would work as well.

Very small shop as far as front end goes but I've had good luck with them calling me back to answer weirder questions. First time I called was to ask about the bi lock mount for the p90 as gemtech hasn't sold them for years as far as I can tell. I had one from when I was going to sbr a different ps90 years ago and kept the flash hider but wanted a spare. They had it in stock. Other times included asking if they still make a mk-9k suppressor(they don't) and the other day asking about the g36 bi lug mount that I thought had been discontinued by gemtech. Greg called me back and said he had the mount and I asked about the viper collars. He did tell me they don't have the suppressors listed but still make them. I'm actually interested in picking up a m11/380 so if I do I'll prob order one of their cans to go with it.

Thanks guys. Got a couple of Viper collars in .45. Seem like very nice people and the first time I became aware of them because of this group and thread.

Called GSL (517) 780-9090 today. I spoke with a great guy named Lee, who took the time to educate me on the history of GSL, and then took my order for two ".45 ACP Barrel Ring Locks."
Thanks to everybody who helped with this!

Well one more step to forgetting about Gemtech, just read that S&W is closing the ID location and opening a new one in MA, what a waste, another big name bites the dust, I no longer support S&W...again. Glad GSL is still doing good and supports these products.
