Just a heads up,

I heard the Gemtech Viper was being discontinued. I called their partnership company GSL Technologies today in Michigan asking about old stock locking collars figuring I’d have to stock up. Hearing from them, they (GSL) were the silencers designer/maker/patent holder. Gemtech was the marketing partner, who put a logo on it and did the selling/marketing. I love Gemtech, but it does sound like these guys were the actual silencer maker, and Gemtech was further down the sales chain.

They’ve got a lot of locking collars on their shelves and seem to be trudging full ahead on marketing the silencer under a new non-Gemtech name for whatever reason the two split. I didn’t seek many details over the phone other than that there was no known permanent hault of this great can as we know it. It sounds like it will be back on the market - just under a different brand name. For the record, I absolutely love my Viper, if you don’t have one you really should get one. New name or old name. Whatever suppresor company links up with GSL I’m sure will do well.

I believe once S&W acquired Gemtech they ditched the products that were low volume which the Viper would likely fall under.

I need to pick one up for the oldschool guns I have with 3/4-10 threads.

B_saan is selling a few Gemtechs right now. Probably the easiest path to one at this time.

Greg(the owner of GSL) served as gemtech's president for like 20 years. It was him, Phil Dater, and I forget the third guys name who made gemtech what they became. Greg had a machine shop when he joined gemtech and they were the back end mfg for a lot of the product. They haven't added them to their catalog but they have been showing off the viper style cans on their facebook for a while. They also have been stocking the collars for a while along with some other weirder stuff like the p90 bi lug mounts which had been hard to find for a while.

As of now it looks like CMMG is having them make their suppressors for them. Not sure who else is using gsl as a back end mfg. Either way yea if you want some of gemtech's older cans GSL is still offering them. Sadly that doesn't include the mk9k or the raptor 2, both of which I've seen gsl versions of in their pictures.

The Viper was the best can Gemtech made!

Glad I own a few but I was just looking to add another and couldn't find it on Gemtech's website...

Thanks to the guys on Uzitalk, I now know why.

Keep us posted. M10/45 with a Viper is incredible.

I go back and forth on wanting a MK9K. I think I'm going to have to hear one side by side with other cans in person before I decide to get one.
