Last one of Estonian soldiers with Galil's moving down a quite inhospitable ridgeline. One slip and there goes an ankle.

Honduran National Police agents armed with a AR-M4SF and Galil SAR pointing at the sky, lead away a couple of men charged with leading an extortion ring. They where caught with money and various cell phones used to extort victims. Good Job HNP!

Nice Guys Finish Last

Police have no motives or clues who was responsible for this shooting. What is clear though was that anytime hitmen on motorcycles are involved, someone paid to have these men shot. Again life is cheap here for these guys. The economy is so bad that sicarios will kill anybody for a little as $50.00USD. So it does not pay to make enemies, especially enemies with a little extra cash. There is a saying now in Honduras, that there are a lot of unemployed hitmen because all the good jobs are taken. Until next time.

I know its not in Central America but the Europeans where the first to colonize Central America. The next few pictures are of Georgian snipers practicing with IWI SR-99 Sniper system. Chuck as promised.

I looks pretty wild that the Georgian snipers practice on concrete slabs.

Take note: The next two pictures show two style of Georgian SR-99's. The sniper in the first picture has a SR-99 with an off-set scope so it comes equipped with a traditional upturned handle. The second picture is of a SR-99 with a top cover mounted scope (in-line with barrel) which comes equipped with a side mounted charge handle.

Here is a picture of a Guatemalan sniper with a Galatz sniper rifle. Interesting enough this Galatz had its original 2 position bi-pod replaced with a Harris bi-pod that has multi-position adjustment.

Off topic for just a second

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to break from the topic to tell this story about a Honduran National Policeman that was name a "Honduran National Hero" by Honduran National Congress this week. Tragic as his story may be this officer died doing what he loved to do. His tragic death was captured on a nearby surveillance video camera.

Joaquin Santos Arita was walking a elderly woman across the street and spotted 2 men on a motorcycle (The use of motorcycles by hitmen to do crime has caused the Honduran government to ban 2 men on motorcycles) he then confronted them before they could drive off. As it turns out these men (teenagers) where on the way to do a hit and Officer Santos thwarted them, but in struggle that ensued Officer Santos lost his life after a thug snatched his duty pistol from his holster and shot him in the head. Warning video is graphic: http://www.elheraldo.hn/content/view/full/175950

New Spanish word of the day: Caleta

Hi guys,

So I wanted to teach you a Spanish word today! It is called "Caleta" basically it is slang for "Hideout" this word orginated from Colombia. As you may know Colombia sets the pace for all Narco-Cartel fads in cloth, cars and homes.

In this picture Colombian soldiers clear out a caleta of weapons which includes a Galil AR. If you look closely it is a plastic barrel that has been buried in the ground. I'll bet there are a lot more of these caletas buried in the United States. Lou

Besides the obvious tragedy of the officer's death, what's is equally disgusting is that no one goes to the aid of the officer during the struggle and motorists drive past the officer when he is down as though he's merely something in the road.

Sidewinder I agree with you. There is an inherent fear of getting involved in these matters. These sicarios (hitmen) have no moral compass or compassion for fellow human beings. They can kill a person and then go to sleep with no remorse. If one where to get in the way they will kill you as well as their intended target. I guess what I am trying to say is that the bad guys have done a good job at making the Honduran population fear them. Then add to the fact that 95% of murders go unsolved in Honduras. Its no wonder the Honduran population is afraid to get involved. My parents live in the capital and they do all their errands during the day, then at night they stay indoors. They tell me the night belongs to "Los Salvajes" (the savages).
