I had built a few AKs through the year so I bought a Kit from Apex, and discovered it was a bit beyond my skills. So I enlisted Steve At Windsor Arms Co, in Windsor Vt and then had a kind of local legend "Captain" Chris Morgan down at Highlander Arms here in SW NH cerakote it for me.
The Bolt Carrier is "Sig Grey"
The magazine (cause every pretty gun deserves a pretty magazine) the Safety and the Sight Hood are "Graphite Black"
The Rest is "Socom Blue"
Things left to do are wrap the Stock in Para Cord and I am waiting on the "Tritium" Vials to refurb the night sights

Welcome and thanks for showing your newest edition.

How much does Steve charge for doing a Galil kit build; along length of time; plus the same for the cerakoting?

This could help out some folks here.

Steve, charges $350 for the build, and I bought some NOS parts he had, so it came to $435. As far as times go on average about 90 days but he will give you and estimated lead time. The Cerakote work I was lucky on Chris tends to paint one style if gun at a time. I dropped the rifle on a Friday night when he was painting AKs over the Weekend. He was using all three colors on different AKs so he just hung my various parts on the color designated racks a shot them and then baked them. I had the rifle back the following Monday. I suspect it was a bit of a fluke on average he tell customers a month. Cost depends on the complexity of the job.

Could you tell of the cost of the cerakoting on your rifle (kind've of a standard Gailil build)?

Have you shot the rifle yet? If so; how is the form - fit - function?

These are all standard details in getting a job done and helping out other members here for learning and making decisions.

Thanks for the feedback

A single color cerakote at Highlander starts at $150 , (that includes media blasting.) The rifle functions flawlessly. It is using one of the later AWO receivers, so no problems were expected. Finish is great but to be realistic the APEX kits often have some pitting and have to be polished .
