How are you carrying mags for sub gun matches?

I thought a standard pistol mag pouch would work but with the length of 30rd magazines they’re pretty cumbersome.

I’ve been trying to find chest rigs but I guess Spiritus Systems doesn’t want any money because nothing is in stock.

Just want to carry 4-5 mags

I make kydex mag holders for my stuff. Easy to do, does take a little work and elbow grease but you'll have a custom fit and it'll be cheaper and more custom then anything you can buy. Just order some sheets of kydex from Amazon to build the holder and the belt hooks. 5 mags on one side of your belts gonna get heavy tho. Wonder if you could just use a normal chest rig and put two mags in each mag pouch.

I like the HSGI padded belt with some old molle mp5 pouches.

I use an AR pouch setup when running the CMMG RDB and endomag gun.

I havnt had the chance to do any subgun matches yet but for extended pistol mags I have a double mag AK mag pouch that will hold 4 pistol mags. A BHP mag is about the same size as a zmag other than length. I have been known to carry 4 20rnd BHPags like that.

I second the suggestion of kydex though. I love my kydex mag holsters.

I have a couple of Glock 33rd 9mm mags, and a ASP Defense Paddle Double Mag Holder (Plastic? Kydex?) It's a little unstable with the 33rd Mags, kinda top heavy (like my wife lol). One of my buddies has a FA FS Uzi, and he runs drop pouches on both legs (not sure of the brand, they are OD Green Nylon with Velcro) and they're pretty good but probably a little slow for Competition.

Someone here posted a few years ago about nylon mag pouches that hold 3 gg mags each and they were blowing them out.

If i remember they were like 4.95 a set .

We all pretty much cleaned them out at that price. When I get home I'll see if they have a name on mine.
Or maybe someone remembers who made them and where we all bought them.

They work great for any long straight gg, sten, uzi, tommy gun mags. Possibly others stick mags too.

My wife and brother both use chest-rigs, more/less built for the P90. Fits Grease Gun and MP5/40 mags just fine.

I use an m4 chest rig. Fits 2 stick mags well and they come out easy. Fine for small area matches where no jumping. I also own a custom kydex chest rig and the mags are too tight. I could never get it to loosten up enough for fast draws.

Checked them no maker tag but they are well built.

Bunch of us bought them here someone posted a link them about 10 years ago.
Mine get used and held up well.

They can be worn any way you want they are MOLLE on the back side.

Also looking at my PPS43 mag pouches those appear very doable for range use. I wouldn't use the PPS43 pouches for comp though since the GG mags are loose in it and the flap doesn't reach enough to button them shut.

They'd probably bounce out when running where the PPS43 mags fit snug due to being curved.
That and they are baby shit soviet green (UGLY)

Looking I can't find a pic of the exact pouches now so maybe they are discontinued.

They were CamelBak SMG pouches and I think it was Botach that had the blow-out. I bought a bunch, and still have packages that I haven't opened.

Yup that's them they work great been using them exclusively for my m10 since i got them.

This thread reminds me of Stuart, aka Mr. "No Mag Pouch". Goes to a 3 gun match with no mag pouches and sticks mags in his pants pockets.

Yes he did and asked me the night before what i was gonna use to hold my mags LOL.

My response was mag pouches dude why?

Had no idea he owns the collection he does and zero magazine carries.

Now that's a collection ......

IE: collects guns but never takes them out for practical practice or competition.

But ya you just have to fold the strap back behind the gg mag. The gg mag is a bit to long or the strap to short to velcro over the gg mag.
However you look wanna look at it.
Mags are a very snug fit without the strap anyways so they stay in when agressive movement applied.

I can't find them for sale now only camelbak hydration and pistol pouches.
Guess they really were discontinued.

I'm in North East Pa

Not much around here for subgun matches anymore that I know of.

But then I kinda stopped in 2013 with all comp. and now I'm way to busy to even go to the once a month IDPA shoot right up the road.
I really have no desire to go there either unless the elitists have moved on.

That one is at factoryville gun club in factoryville Pa

the 3 gun and a ton of other matches are/were held at Blueridge sportsmans club in Hallstead Pa.

I'd look at both their sites and see what is coming up but WV is across on the western side of Pa.
