How fast and how slow can the 11/15 go?

Wondering what Richard and the beta testers, and the rest of us have managed to speed their rates of fire up to, and slow it down to.

The manual says 600-1000rpm. But I'm sure during testing, folks manage to break well outside those limits.

What's the fastest? What's the slowest?

I'm planning to get the 8.5 ounce super heavy buffer to slow mine down, hopefully to 600 or less. Is there any way to add weight to the bolt itself?

But I have a MAC JAC for a reason, and I've gotten over 2000 rpm in 9mm with my long upper factory bolt, MAC JAC, and a can

What could we reasonably expect from the 11/15 with toasty ammo, light buffer, a 16, 20, or 24 inch barrel, and a can? Maybe open the gas up a touch? Lightweight BCG?

I don't want to risk my warranty, or breaking stuff, but I'm morbidly curious.

I am wondering this too. I was planning on purchasing the Max-11A1/15 IRM and converting to 8" 300 BO. The Blackout is known to be slower and softer shooter with shorter barrels than the 5.56. I would like a ROF of 600-700 RPM. The ability to add weight to the bolt is really the only option I see. The only problem is the Lage 11A1/15 Internal Recoil Mechanism needs the bolt carrier to be hollow for the recoil spring.

Edit: We should talk to VegasSMG about getting some "W" bolt carriers. :)

The AR system ROF will be greatly effected by the length of the gas system. There are four lengths, rifle, mid length, carbine, and pistol. The pistol length will run the fastest. To slow the cyclic rate longer gas systems and lighter springs with more mass in the buffer will help to a point. There needs to be enough energy in the system to cycle. To go faster, just the opposite will help, shorter gas system, heavier springs with lighter buffers. To much gas in a short gas system with a strong recoil spring and low buffer mass can pound the receiver to death. Certainly an adjustable gas block can help, but only to a point.

The open bolr Colt M231 ran at around 1200 RPM so that should be pretty easy to make happen.

I personally like high ROF weapons better than super slow ones.

This will fit in a standard AR carrier. Its designed to uncrease the unlocking time on the guard radial delayed action. If the lage carrier is the same ID then this will fit, but you'll need to drill a hole in the carrier for a roll pin.

In stock configuration with standard buffer and recoil spring, I could get 580rpm shooting wolf classic just buy playing with the gas. I got close to 500rpm with a reduced power spring and 5oz buffer. With the gas opened all the way and shooting suppressed, I dont think we ever broke the 900rpm mark.

All over the place!
If you choose the IRM, I think the only option you have to slow it down is with the adjustable gas block. Adjusting mine with Wolf ammo, I had a run away when I had the setting too low. I only put 10 rnds in mags till I got it adjusted where I wanted.

I drilled the hole.

Reduced power spring, low gas, and 8.5 ounce bolt should be pretty impressive then. Thanks, Chili!

So a 24 inch barrel with an insane pistol length gas, super heavy spring, gas port wide open, 3 ounce buffer... and a can? Too much gas and it will just malfunction like my 7 inch pistol does a lot. Might be fun to go over 1000 once or twice.

But that's a good point, beating on the receiver.

The easiest way to change the weight of the recoil system in the max11/15 with the ar15 recoil system is change the recoil buffer. With the irm you are pretty much very limited with what you can do. You could add some weight by cloning some of the parts that bolt onto the carrier and either make them out of a heaver metal or change the shape slightly to make them larger. A lot of work for limited gain.

But here is a secret that I will tell you if you are so set on adding a few oz's to the bcg. The sear catch top mounting bracket for the irm is slightly bigger/heaver than the one for the ar15 recoil system. You could replace the sear catch top mounting bracket of the ar15 recoil system bolt carrier with one from the irm and add a little weight.

Hear that VegasSMG? We need a W sear catch a W sear catch to mounting bracket for the IRM!

I would volunteer to be a beta tester for a 8" 300 Blackout Max-11A1/15. :)

What is your minimum RPM with wolf using the IRM upper?
