I have had to yell at more people for trying that, people I like.

Had a buddy going to take a shot from the truck at a grouse with a pistol grip M500 one time. Caught him just in time.

Had another one try it with a folded SPAS 12. The lists goes on.

I was at a range watching a "gangsta" and his girlfriend shoot a pistol sideways. I was there shooting in a bowling pin match so in between matches I went to see what was going on in the other sections. This guy was so stereotypical it wasn't believable. I went and got a few of my buddy's to watch the hysteria. He was showing his babymomma how to hold and shoot sideways and noticed we were watching. He was proud to show off. He next pulled from his black duffle bag an SKS with scope, and folding stock. He was shooting it at about 15 feet at a man silhouette and wasn't even hitting the paper. He gave it to his girlfriend and she didn't do much better. We were trying not to let him see us laugh but it was getting pretty evident we weren't impressed. He reached into the black duffle bag and pulled a pistol grip shotgun and we watched as he pulled it up to his face and shot. He didn't hit himself even though the range required slugs only in shotguns. He handed it to his girlfriend and she gave it a try. She got a rude surprise, the shotgun busted her lip and she was bleeding pretty good when she started whipping that guy's ass all over the range. We were crying!!

-actually a folded SPAS 12 is pretty heavy. You still don't wanna hold it like that vidiot did.

That's a great video, Todd.

I shoot my pistol grip M500 like that all the time. You have to develop a dynamic tension between your arms and push your weak hand forward really hard to overcome the recoil. Trying to counter the recoil with your strong hand doesn't work because the gun just pivots around the pistol grip and once the center of mass is above your hand, the rest goes straight back into your face. If you push forward on the forearm with your strong hand, it works out OK. You definitely should hold it farther forward than that dude was though.

PLEASE NOTE I DO NOT SUGGEST ANYONE ELSE TRY THIS.

I have shot a pistol grip shotgun like that plenty of times. I have never had in issue... ?

I can hold it right up to my face, aim down the bead, fire in fast succession, etc. I have never come close to hitting my face, nor have any of my friends of family that have shot it that way.

I can see how it would happen if you held it loose in your hands...

Nah, I did the same thing with a Mavrick 88 about 20 years ago. On a related note: My family owns a resort on the river, and during the off season, and early/late season, when there were'nt too many people around I would use it at night to eliminate muskrats, and beaver. Well, one late Sept. evening I was getting in a canoe for one of my nocturnal excursions, with the trusty 88 in tow. Two guys who were staying in one of the cabins, were coming in from fishing, they stopped, and chatted with me for a couple of minutes, did'nt say anything about the gun, just talked fishing. As they were walking off one of them hesitated, and turned to me, and asked "Are you hunting frogs?" I about lost it, I told him if the f'in frogs started getting big enough that I needed to use a 12 ga. on 'em, I damn sure would'nt want to be out there in the dark with'em!

We all knew what was going to happen but we watched it anyways, then we watched it again, and again, again.......
