Thinking about cashing in on my M11/9 in the next few months. I really just got the thing, but the allure of FA is already wearing off. I set up all kinds of uppers, SK, 11/15 with longer barrel, and side cocking 22. Tons of spare parts and mags for each configuration. I really should have dabbled with it before going all in, but it was a two-stamp transfer and I collected lots of stuff while I waited.

Would I be better off selling off the upper with associated parts and accessories, or the whole kit? Maybe the base gun with the Lage 9mm upper, and split off the other two?

Not really in a hurry for anything and I don’t mind multiple transactions to clear it all out. Any tips?

You’ll get more if you sell it separate.

Someone else isn’t going to want each accessory you liked.

Which 22 kit? I’d prob pair that with the main sale.

You’ll never buy it again for what you sell of for today though.

Second to Lawbob ...Sell it off in parts maybe a buyer gets first dibs of extra kinda of thing ..

But frankly as Bob said I would not sell unless it was real cash issues ie I am going to lose the car if I dont sell this ... These are only going to keep going up and up and up esp..And with the election next year

No cash issue, other than wanting to get a Scar 17 and set it up for night shooting shenanigans.

I was definitely thinking about holding off till election time though.

mustang....while the usual state of affairs is to profit over the course of owning MGs....that most def. is NOT the case for Title I guns aside from some special pre-ban imports. Just saying....in case $ is the driving factor here.

Your next buyer may not want all your uppers.

Bring the gun back to factory and sell the gun as is

I’d transfer it now to your dealer so you can sell it as a form 3 gun(right now no one wants form 4 gun)

Offer your extras to your buyer at a couple hundred off each upper

What’s left sell here

You want to make your Mac as low priced as you can. Easier to sell a $7500 Mac than a $10,000 Mac w extras

Almost no one considers the extras correctly. I help others buy and I always have to list how much the extras are. They just see the gun as over priced until I show them it’s got $2,000 or whatever in extras

Good luck with your sale

The smart play is to find a friendly local dealer who will help facilitate the transfer (for a fair fee) and start the Form 4 paperwork to him. Then you can continue to use it as normal until the Form 4 is approved at which time you or the dealer can list the gun for sale as transferring on a Form 3. At some point (whether that's when the gun sells or right after you get the paperwork is up to you and the dealer) you can actually do the physical handoff to the dealer to complete the approved transfer and then the dealer will Form 3 it to the out of state buyer's dealer. Only drawback to that is if you find an in state buyer then you've wasted the dealer transfer money and time but on the plus side even in that case you won't have to personally hold on to the gun while the transfer to the new buyer is pending.

That’s a good idea to get it on a F3. I guess if I started now it would be ready about election time.

I’ve got good relationships with both the NFA dealers here in town. I might start with that.

3-4 months for a transfer from you to a dealer, max. From my last one and what I'm hearing from other dealers, most Form 4 individual to dealer approvals seem to be coming back in 30-45 days right now.

SCAR17 is an unergonomic pile of fuck. Reliable, accurate, but not as much fun as the cool factor implies. I only keep mine to rub it in to folks who can't afford one. 308 AR platform is much nicer, IMO.

Here, I'll trade you my 17 for your M11/9 registered lower. You get the toy you want, I get a second MG. And you can bank selling all the extras.

You need a 20s if you really want to rub it in.

SCARs have a rep for killing scopes. I would imagine a night vision scope would have even a tougher time surviving.

Nah all the actual NV optics will be on my head. The Scar will get full suite of IR lasers and illuminators, and a can to make it NV compatible.

I do keep going back and forth between the 17 and 20. Kind of a hard choice.
