Pics of the rear of the barrel will tell for sure. IMI marked the barrels, shipped with the gun, with the last three numbers of the serial number. If it's 18 inches long it may be for a mini.

Minis were 19.1” looks like an original semi imi full size barrel

I read somewhere that IMI only made 16 1/4 full size barrels.
Yea it’s a strange one. Too short to be for a legal semi mini, and it is long for a full size. Maybe a custom contract barrel I’m not sure. Dave might know

I want to say that the longer barrels were needed when the full size uzi's came with the fixed wood stocks. Something about how the stock could be removed and then the overall length would be less than 26" thus necessitating the extra 3" in length.

That is why they were fixed instead of QD like the MGs, so making it too short required disassembly with tools. The mini came with the longer bbl because the length with stock folded was under 26" with a 16" bbl.

Both seem to be unnecessary precautions. AFT measures OAL with a stock extended. And if you happen to own an AR7 you can leave the stock off and have a sub 26" rifle.

I think the 18" barrels, for the mini, were for a law in Michigan/Massachusetts having to do with the overall length with a folded stock.

The mini I have is a rifle purchased directly from Vector. A friend had a factory IMI mini and it came with a 16" barrel.

Arch stanton beat me to it.

You can tell from the photo that it's for a full size UZI, not a Mini UZI. All of the standard IMI UZI Carbines with numbered barrels were 16.25". An 18" barrel is needed for use with a quick detach stock to meet the OAL requirement, but I've never heard of Action Arms providing them back in the 1980s. Maybe there were a few special orders but I doubt it. Action Arms sold a wooden stock with a fixed mount for the carbine, so I doubt they'd hassle with a special order. It wouldn't be just a spare parts from IMI because then it would be numbered. Definitely a weird one.
