First make sure the blocking bar was removed. If not it will have a slotted bolt that is married to the receiver. You cannot legally remove the blocking bar if it was not done prior to 1986. Second does it have a semiautomatic restrictor ring around the chamber end of the barrel. If it has a restrictor ring a Full auto bolt will have to be clearances to fit over the ring or the restrictor ring can be removed. Lastly does it have a semiautomatic or full auto trunnion? The semi is smaller and f/a barrels would have to be turned down to fit or the trunion can be opened up to SMG specs. The blocking bar is the only thing that can’t be fixed. Everything else can be converted to SMG specs. It only takes time and money.

Ive seen non slotted registered bolts married to the receiver as well so id make sure its def a registered receiver. As been mentioned…everything else can be updated at a later date. Some good smith’s out there like AKarms.

Depends on if you want a registered bolt gun, sear gun, or registered receiver. What to “look for “ will differ. Feel free to msg me with any questions, and if you end up getting something that needs certain upgrades I can help with that. Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy one that needs some work

Just to emphasize, if the conversion has a slotted bolt, the ATF considers that the machine gun.
