Dayum, no bidding on it until I called attention to it. That buy now price is, umm wishful thinking.

Both of my FNC uppers are semigloss enamel.

The gun in question looks like no parkerizing occurred on the welds. If it is indeed parkerized. Odd they would finish them so differently. Are were sure it is parkerized?

I think I found some pics in my library. I don't post pics too often and always find it a PITA when I do. Pretty sure these were posted here, so if your recognize your FNC, give a holler.

interesting finish

I believe the gun you are looking at is a Howco. My guess is the lighting when the picture was taken has given the upper that parkerized look. The upper on the Howco's is a slightly different color than the lower.

My 2 are Howcos and look nothing like that. Even with finish absolutely dry, it still has a sheen from the paint.

Have 2 uppers that were stripped of original finish then Parked like that.

One is a Howco, one is one of the earlier Swedish trials uppers (SARCO import likely)

So yes, the welds do look like that after a Park job.

Ad says it was test fired and then stored. Yeah right. I would guess it was sandblasted and parkerized.

couldn't you have the welds cleaned up if the upper is going to be refininshed?

I emailed the seller / owner of this gun.

His response:

I talked with my gunsmith/guru
He recollects that on some of the original civilian models that the receivers were actually blued, as this one appears to be. The material of the welds would not take the blueing properly as appears to be the case with this one. Let just say this was not re-blued as i purchased this new from one of my distributors in the 80's and this is the original finish.

As of this moment it's at $3800. I expect it to go for over $4K based on the number of bidders.
