Interesting to consider. Would a FA firearm be YOUR choice for self defense?

It's funny to consider these things as these guns are now "banned." Presumably for their "effeciency." Oddly, I'd choose my g19 for close range self defense or my suppressed sbr Ar15 for a further distance.

Although I only have a Lage'd Mac, I don't think this would change with another FA gun.

100 times out of 100. I would choose a semi auto only, if it was between that or gun stuck on full auto...

Interesting thought.

Agreed. Full auto is for suppression fire, which is nearly mutually exclusive to the general view of self defense in our nation.

Normally, no, but if it gets to a "Walking Dead" scenario, then yes. However, in that scenario, ammo may get scarce so circumspect use of full auto will likely be the general case.

A few years ago a local legal owner of a Mac-10 used his firearm to dispatch a home intruder in the middle of the night, no ill came of it. I remember the reporters kept trying to harp on the fact that it was a full auto used to the Sheriff who was having one of it and just shrugged and said it was legally owned. No charges, no drama, no issue. YMMV

Browning Hi Power with 20round mags and Octane9 is my home defense.
Quick access safe under the bed.

Full auto and the other guns are locked away. Not accessible in a hurry.

Only scenario I can see where I would grab a mg or smg for defense would be if it was my ONLY firearm.
Even then it would be on semi-auto.
By the time most guys get into nfa stuff they typically already have other weapons.
Although back in the day I actually bought a select-fire Mac and a suppressor before I owned any handguns, but I did have some rifles.

One or two aggressors, I don't think so. A wave of rushing aggressors? Yes, I want a belt fed and a trained crew. MGs were invented for a reason.

All my self-defense guns are full-auto, except shotguns.

Every military in the world issues machine guns for a reason.

G19 over an mp5? That's crazy.

I keep the M11 next to the bed a lot of nights so... FA all the way.

Outside the house I usually have little hammer fired .380 tucked away.

Inside the house I'd use a g35

Street I'd use g27

It would take civil unrest to pull out a fa

I would be worried about bring prosecuted for using too much force
unloading a thompson drum on an intruder

Standing on my front lawn w a thompson or Soumi drum amp 10 would give a good intimidation factor
