Is it normal for the underside of the bolt (partial round section just forward of the bolt face) to rub accross the top of the barrel ring in a SA? Just noticed extra wear there.

as long as the gun runs I wouldn't worry about it unless you are getting light primer strikes. It'll wear down, the bolt should be harder than that ring. But if you want to check out what is going on...you can take the firing spring/striker assembly and the recoil spring out, and take the lower off...slide the bolt back and forth and see how much it's rubbing (with and without the top cover on). You can then determine how much of a problem it is and then decide if you need to polish away or otherwise remove some material from the ring or not.

um...hitting the barrel? Not sure why the barrel would sit that high. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that one. Does it shoot reliably? Does it shoot low? Semi-auto gun, right?

The bolt face is is coming in contact with the barrel when its forward.
If you take the barrel nut off the gun the barrel pops out about .010 because the bolt is pushing it forward.
if you pull the barrel out and look at it the contact is from 8pm around to 2pm and a deep tooth mark from the extractor which cant be good.

That shouldn't be happening, sounds like the barrel is too long inside the gun. Whose barrel is it?

Ideally the bolt is supposed to stop on the rear of the trunion before it impacts the barrel

Looking at my SA Vector closer and my bolt face is slightly hitting the front of the barrel as there are small marks. As long as it fires I'm not concerned. Next range trip if I'm still having problems then its time to send back for repairs. As of now I only have 150 rounds through it so it too early to make a decesion.
