The kids running around with Glock switches getting ahold of super safeties is what I fear. I know this perspective is despised around here but yeah, $10,000.00+ transferables taking 6 or 12 or even more months to clear were absolutely keeping us under the radar. What’ll likely happen, is someone will use a registered MG in a horrible crime (mass shooting) and that’ll be all folks.
I hate to say that but when you had to wait at least 6 (+) months, that kept a lot of people at bay.
While that's true it was the availability of glock switches that has created the problem, not their existance. You could always do an ar-15 - m16, but it almost never happened.B kings sells auto trips... way cheaper and easier to deal with then a ss. Bad people are going to do bad things regardless of what is legal. Hence the glock switches lol
Yup. Most folks do not have a basic understanding that most semi firearms can become FA with just a tiny bit of work with hand tools in the garage. Often sketchy FA but FA none the less.B kings sells auto trips... way cheaper and easier to deal with then a ss. Bad people are going to do bad things regardless of what is legal. Hence the glock switches lol
100% yes but it takes that type of buyer. The people who can afford 30k-40k M16's imo are still going to buy them, maybe 10% - 20% go the SS route to scratch that itch.Would you pay $27,000 for an M16 lower or $100 for a super safety?…
We all know how we feel about our select fires.
Your entire statement can be used against FA too. Ever see how bad of a shot the average person is? It's scary. Even in competition I shoot against some people that I really hope I'm never down range from because they may hit me while trying to hit something 180 from me!Prior to getting my toy-on-a-stamp, I'd gotten mighty good with a slidefire/20" barreled upper. I could hold all 30 rds in about an 8" to 10" group, sans a flyer or two.
That said, there's no comparison. Sure, there's a point of diminishing returns. I can't see ever forking $65k over for a (all-original 7.62x39) AK-47, or even $20k for a converted pre-86 semi, but something like a Colt M16 has real value, especially on market dips.
These wannabe products appeal to the desire to spray-n-pray, or to put a whole mag downrange as fast as John Rambo. They don't serve any investment or tactical purpose (aside from perhaps suppressive fire).
It's funny, when they outlawed bump stocks a few years ago, I threw most of a Bumpski out, and used the large piece to make a nice stock for my son's paintball gun. No regrets. Even legal, swapping barrels on an AK platform is hardly a fun task. With steel-jacketed ammo, you can really burn an AK barrel to shreds - fast. The expected lifespan of a front-line grunt with a Kalash is probably under one hour.
The AR platform multi triggers strike me as unsafe and clunky. The last thing a weapon like an AR needs is distractions from the intended target, be it paper or otherwise.
Even if you never intend to let another person try it out, deviations from a standard trigger add one more level of danger, and do not add any significant benefits to good marksmanship. In the right marksman's hands, 30 rounds should net 30 hits in under 30 seconds. Meanwhile, BillyBob with the bump stock has perhaps three/four hits on the mark, and is reloading again in a few heartbeats, while a trained marksman still has 26 rds after 4 shots on the target.
YMMV, but I'll take one nice NFA toy over doubles of every gimmick, strapped to two of every model they'll fit...
techspy, that's helpful info. Were any mods required to your MP5 SD clone upper/shelf to accept the SS/AR trigger style lower? I’m curious if an HK style lower/trigger pack can still be swapped out with the SS/AR lower in the pic.I have recnetly put a SS in my mp5sd clone and 9mm AR. They are simply amazing. I am putting one in my reverse stretch mp5 clone ...

how much is a good, pretty darn authentic mp5 clone that can receive a SS? I don't know anything about which brand is good vs crap.mp5sd clone
