There are no SWD M-11 9mm SMG's listed on any of the sub gun boards for $2,600-$2,700!

I know a couple of dealers who picked up a couple on fire sales another from a broker at an estate sale, so don't hold your breath.

$3,200 and up is a fair price for an M-11 and w/ the Lage and assecories $5,000 is definately not out of line. Not at all!

That's funny because, I got one off a gun board and the other off gunbroker. Trust me they are out there, you just have to be fast at those prices. You cant sit there and say I'll call on it after lunch. I've noticed quite a few MG's for sale at prices less than they were 6 months ago. That and I've seen the same ones still offered for sale a year later. Hold out I think one for 3k will be easy enough to find and maybe less.

I've heard from the guy that runs the website that these come with the original upper. Only problem is that he doesn't keep them in stock very long.

Something being a "good deal" is kinda subjective.

That said, in my opinion, once you get it, with the Lage, you'll say "Yeah, its worth it."

Larry is a great guy to work with and will get what you want if you give him some time. His inventory sells fast as he prices his guns low enough that a lot of dealers buy from him as well.

Thanks for that input. Have you done business with Larry before?

Well,
I think you got very lucky. I have 3 partners and we all share the responsibility in purchasing NFA weapons for our business and we have yet to purchase an SWD M-11 9mm in the last 30 day's for under $2,900 (without tax and shipping etc.)

Realistically, its not very fare to say to someone new that your going to find a SWD M-11 SMG for under $3,000.(especially, $2,600-$2,700)

Someone new to the hobby or collecting will not have the knowledge or purchasing ability to jump right on a deal.

Our forum helps to inform people that these deals do exist, but I think your giving false hope, especially in a finite market like machine gun purcasing that these deals are readily available all you have to do is look.

This is a business for me, so you might not like my point of view. Yes, I shoot and collect some items on the side, but I ultimately purchase guns to sell.

I take solice, at least for now that machine gun prices are higher than they ever have been.

This has done a lot to help our community.

Do you think guy's like Richard Lage would be manaufacturing his upper if M-11's where not selling for around $3,200.00 or more? Think about that?
Heck he was working from his home just months ago and now has an incrediable facility! (Thank you Richard!)

I would think the machine gun community has come a long way in the last 18 months and this is all in part to their increased cost/value.

There are now more Mac type uppers and assecories available than ever before.

How many new suppressor companies can you count???? There's a long list!

They wheren't available before because there was no money in making a slow fire upper ($600.00+) for a $250.00 machine gun (This is what SWD Atlanta was selling M-11's in 1982) even after 1986 and into the 90's.

All of a sudden they became worth something and popular and thats how we have all reaped the benefits.

Maybe its off subject, but realistically when machine gun prices increase everybody, not the few benefit from it.

I think its an incrediable time for the NFA community!

I have bought a few from him in the last year. In fact Larry, Richard Lage and i all live within a few miles of each other and shoot at the same range.

Well, for everyone EXCEPT the end users.

$10 large for $800 gun? That's incredible fer sure - incredibly bad.

Well,
Class III weapons aren't for everbody. Just like Harley's or Ferrari's aren't for everybody as well.

Heck, If I could afford a Jet I would, but I can't, so I own a Pieper Cub and I enjoy it, not knock the price tag of what I can't afford.

Besides you missed my point totally and thats ok, I don't believe a machine gun is really worth the thousands they demand, but if they didn't then we wouldn't have the guy's like Richard making slow fire uppers.

And I own transferables as well and I certainly don't enjoy paying thousands, but it kind of makes me appreciate them that much more.

Its a great time we live in that we even have machine guns!

I don't see it that way - to be thankful just to be able to have machine guns.

The ONLY reason the supply is strained is because of gov't tyranny - making unConstitutional laws. And much as I love my Lage Max-11, I 'd still rather be able to take that $4500 and buy 2 M-16's @ $800 ea, a MP5 at $1400 and a Belt fed with the remaining cash.

The entire Class 3 dealer business is a regrettable consequence of gov't tyranny. So you make a few bucks, and the rest of the gun owning world pays thru the nose for C3 firearms.

That's hardly the golden age of firearms.

I don't hold you any ill will. Its not like you enjoy any of the gov't beauracracy. But your post seems somewhat Pollyannish. Our entire freedoms hang by a thread that could be EASILY cut in the next election.

Forgive me if I'm not jumping up and down clapping.

No offense to Richard, but I have been to his new shop and I would not categorize it as incredible. I had also been to his home garage workshop. The tooling in both is the same. The new shop has more assembly tables and an office that his home shop did not have. The new shop with the larger work area and his two employees will hopefully decrease his production time, especially since he is now producing the Max-10 and hopefully soon to be in production .22 conversion for the M & Max 11s.

Sorry, but your incredible facility comment made it sound to me if Richard is profiting off of us hand over fist and that is not the case. He is in business to make a profit just as you are and I don’t begrudge either of you that. As a consumer I choose whether I find your prices fair and wish to purchase your product. I would not be purchasing from Lage Mfg. if I thought his prices were outrageous, or he suddenly financed some incredible facility off of me. I do know some who have told Richard he is not charging enough for his uppers. I wish they would stop doing that until I have purchased all the uppers I am going to from him.:jester

I don’t believe you intended your comment to be construed this way, but it could be and I do not believe it is fair to Lage Mfg. I also want to make it clear that I am merely posting my opinion and do not represent Lage Mfg in any way.

And that sounds just a tad elitist.

In fact, per the Constitution, so-called Class 3 weapons ARE for everyone. (assuming not a criminal, or of minor age)

I knew you were one of them, because he told me. I just "don't kiss and tell," but now that you have outed yourself I have been meaning to discuss that with you...:jester

Seriously his prices were low considering the quality product he produces, the amount of work that goes into it and the way he stands behind his products.

I may have been a little over zealous with my previous post and for that I will apologize. I just don't want people to get the impression Richard is becoming filthy rich off of us, because he isn't. I don't believe any of these manufacturers are truly manufacturing and delivering the product advertised.:waving

I said that I've past on 8 this year for less than 3k, I never said that $2,600 is an everyday deal. You have to look, that's part of the fun. Hell saying $3,200-3,500 is more of a dis-service then what I said. If everyone starts thinking that a used m11 is worth 3,500 then they'll be 3,800, then well you know how it goes. He can find one for 3k or less, I've already pointed him that direction.

Yes I do appreciate Richard, this isn't about his products, but the price of a gun. I will say that I doubt I would miss the upper if I could buy a bullet hose for 250 again, M16 for 800, ak47 for 600, mp5 for 1,200, M60 for 1,200. I could have all of those for less then the price of the gun listed above and wouldn't need a slow fire upper for a m11. I could enjoy it for what it is.

Just because it's a business for you doesn't mean you are correct. Just because you don't find the deals, does that make me wrong? NO

Hell I know where there are 2 m10's at right now. 1 in 9mm for 3k, 1 in .45 with suppressor, carry case that doubles as a vest, .22 upper. Yeah that ones only $2,800. I haven't totally passed on those yet.

I would like to clear up an issue that I may have caused confusion on. From my discussions with Richard, Lage Mfg did not raise the price of its upper when others suggested it should. The increase in cost came later, long after our discussion, when the cost of raw materials and outsourcing parts went up. Richard refused to raise the price of the upper although others suggested he should. When his cost in materials and outsourcing increased he had to pass the cost on, as any manufacturer would. The increase in price was not merely to line his pockets.

Edited: Sorry my last sentence in post #35 did not make any sense and this was the only way I could edit it.

It's a shame when you have to RE-post three times to explain your first post to everyone, huh? :roflmao

And it's not you Doug. I always understand your carefully worded replies.

Yeah, sure. The day Richard starts needing or listening to our advise is the beginning of the end for his business.:slap

I just have too much time on my hands these days. I have been off work since December 7th and will not go back until January 17, if then. I need to get some things around here done, or get a life and quit spending so much time at this computer.:surfing :roflmao
