Early last week I went shopping for an alternative to the cocking knob for my uzi. I currently have joeblacks topcover rail that works great, but it crowds the space for the cocking knob.
Here is a video of me at one subgun stage:

Now here is a buddy shooting the same stage, but has problems with mag seating and the cocking knob...
right click, save as...(1.3MB)
As you can see, the side cocking knob would have saved him the 10-15 sec...
I sent joeblack some ideas and he came up with a rough design. By last Friday, I had one delivered.
When I first installed the knob, I was pumped. It looked good and wasn't too heavy. I was a little concerned about the length, but it's fine.
I will say joeblacks knob fits better than the stock knob. I say better because it fits tighter in the slots. There is no lateral movement at all. Your results may very.
After I installed the topcover, I practiced rapid reloads with empty mags...Overall it felt good and seemed faster. I will field test next weekend, with my next match scheduled for March.
Thanks again joeblack!
Enjoy the pics...
